I think my single biggest personal develop over the past year is to be brutal in cutting dead weight. In the past, a lot of BS slides under the cracks cause you just don’t know what good looks like, or what best practice should be - but that ain’t the case in the AI era. The mentality is simple - I build, so I know. AI helps me approach this 100x faster than before for any function and role that I did not play before. I often say - if it’s me showing what good looks like to the team, then we are all fucked. For a startup, assembling a team whose aggregate spike is constantly evolving is crucial. As a leader, knowing where to prune, such that the team’s capability frontier can scale broader is paramount. It’s just the very honest truth I wanted to share. AI can be a blessing, but can also be a curse, depends on which way you hold the cross.
