They demanded she personally justify an overnight hospital stay for a surgery that was already pre-approved. 2/5 The video went mega-viral and sparked nationwide outrage about insurance companies interfering with cancer care. New prior-auth rules were forcing surgeons themselves to handle these calls or risk denial. 3/5 What happened next: Dr. Potter says UnitedHealthcare retaliated by refusing to add her outpatient RedBud Surgery Center to their in-network list.
