Associate players have performed really well in the recent T20 World Cup, so far only a few from associate teams have made it to the IPL. The most famous name among them is probably Ryan ten doeschate, who was bought by KKR before the 2011 IPL. At that time he actually had the highest average in ODIs. Technically though, Dirk Nannes was the first associate player to be part of the IPL. He was picked by Delhi for the 2009 season. Interestingly at that point he hadn't played international cricket for any team. Soon after, he debuted for the Dutch and just a few months later he also played for Aus. Another name many people might not remember is Chirag Suri from the UAE, who was picked by Gujarat for the 2017 IPL. Sandeep from Nepal also played in the IPL for Delhi. Of course, the Afghan players like Rashid and Nabi were also associate players when they first joined the IPL before Afg became a full member nation. Hopefully, in the future we will see many more players from associate teams play in the IPL.
