If Matthew 7 is about ‘going to heaven when you die,’ then somebody explain how billions of ‘saved’ people equals ‘few.’ Either our gospel math is broken, or most of church culture is selling comfort instead of the narrow way. Find the narrow way. It doesn't mean what you think.

Dismissing me as though you understand what Messiah meant when He said "few are they who find" the narrow gate while continuing to believe the billions and billions of people who have professed Christ for the past 2000 years count as "few" is not wise. Red herring. I don’t know anyone who says the standard is the first century church. Rather, the standard is the New Testament - which happened to be written in the first century. To the extent first century church form and function corresponded with New Testament directives, great. But that is incidental to the plenary authority of Scripture. I think you understand this distinction, but ignore it to distract from the real issue - which is the dichotomy between church form and function as the first century New Testament defines it, and church form and function as you now want to define it based on your post New Testament anachronistic presumptions and man made traditions.
