That was quick! Omaha picks up Justin Bolis, transfer from Nebraska. The 6'-8" forward appeared in 17 games for Nebraska this year and will have two years of eligibility remaining. It's looking like Omaha is going to be loooong on the wing this year. One opening remaining for UNO

With 6 games to play, @OmahaSB’s magic number to win the regular season conference title outright is 4. Each of the 3 tourney titles came on the road and the Mavs will have to do it again this year as St. Thomas won the tiebreaker in 2025.

@jdunomav Well, “who should get what” is a different argument, and I decline that invitation.😊 As to this one, I merely suggest that successful recruiting approaches to sustained success in hockey are neither as binary, nor as different from other sports (at any level) as you may think.

@RedArmyOmaha If you told me our strategy academically was to treat my beloved School of Communication and the School of Biomechanics the same in how we recruit students and faculty, fund research, operationally staff them and promote them. I'd think that was crazy despite my love. Same here.

@jdunomav I don’t think it’s that different - you need a mix of sustained culture and some special pieces even if you can’t keep the latter forever. The difference with hockey is that most of your non-starters play every night, unlike MBB. And loyal guys like Tony O and Simon are prizes.

@RedArmyOmaha I was commenting on the NCAA more broadly. If you're speaking Omaha. We can't have the same strategy for mid major MBB and Hockey that competes in the league of National Championships. MBB is CCHA or AHA in Hockey and Hockey is Big East in MBB.

@jdunomav Seems like a blend can work. We’ve had some one-year guys (Stange, McManus) who provided a piece that “culture” guys might not have. The worry is that you wind up with a team full of glue guys who don’t feel upwardly mobile without stars - that’s one way to describe this year.

@RedArmyOmaha I think there is a fundamental difference in 3 years & NHL ELC & full roster redo annually, kids spending 1 year here & 1 year there. The former has been hockey forever. Will all guys be 3-4 year guys no, but you can build a core. There will be the ASU model and the DU model.
