It’s been nearly 5 months of being completely bedridden. I’ve made very little progress. I can still barely move, or think or talk.
I want to be out in the world living a life. My body hurts. But my heart hurts more.
I wish I had a more positive update.

Very worrying to see a faith group visiting a school to talk about “Faith in Science”. The slide shown appears to ask “What scientific evidence is there for God?” - then provides a range of answers. There’s just one answer: NONE.

Watching Dunkirk tonight. I’m left weeping at the bravery of those young men, at the futility of war, at the wars that still devastate today. I’m thinking of all the loss. The siblings, spouses, children lost.
When will we learn?
When will humanity move beyond this?

@annaframe Oh, I'm not suggesting it would play out as smoothly but such incidents are, thankful, rare enough (IMHO) that they cannot really be used as a meaningful case for retaining conductors. Arguabley, as a representative of authority, the conductor here was in harm's way too.

@RobCareDigital Except that they only found out because the man was upset. The conductor kept him calm, assessed the situation and made the call, in light of his claims, to make a stop earlier than was planned - rather than calling ahead to Newcastle. Not really possible over an intercom.

My train just had to make an unexpected stop in Hartlepool, to remove a man who claimed to have a gun. The conductor apologised for the delay and was clear about why the stop was necessary, without causing undue alarm.
Not sure how that would have worked on a driver-only train…

I am very proud of the team at @FullyChargedShw when we make a really clear, highly informative episode about a critically important subject, but the sad reality is, not that many people watch it.

@Alyssa_Milano Since mass shootings are seldom carried out by illegally held firearms, reduce/restrict the supply and make them too expensive to own for just casual recreation. Licence/tax annually and most heavily on purchase. Guns are pervasive because they are cheap and readily available.

@jessphillips The irony is, if you have the resources to go private, you absolutely should... especially if you have the choice to do so at an NHS facility. Otherwise you are not only an unnecessary burden on the tax payer but also enriching the insurance companies for nothing.
