@ABCthedrum @bairdjulia if we concentrate on 2 areas we will massively improve productivity in Aust 1. Reducing energy costs thru renewables will drive local manufacturing competitiveness, reduce imports & improve self-sufficiency 2. Fund fibre-only NBN to supercharge teleworking

I can imagine no other president in my lifetime failing to address the nation in a prime time speech during a crisis such as this. On the other hand, I cannot imagine another president whose words would be less welcome by so many of his fellow citizens.

#qanda Germany is planning to shut all coal fired plants by 2038 The “new” 1.5-billion euro Datteln-4 plant, outside Dortmund in west Germany’s industrial heartland, is already nine years late and over budget because of defects that delayed its connection to the grid.

#Qanda If trust in our federal Gov’t is to be rebuilt we need guarantees re the new tracking app. Perhaps legislated & guaranteed immunity for any whistleblowers uncovering misuse of data - along with a $1million p.a. pension for life @ScottMorrisonMP @AlboMP

We will look after each other during this crisis. But this virus makes it painfully clear just how exposed we are when we act as a colonial branch office of a global supply chain instead of an independent economic nation. We need to make our own face masks & ventilators at scale.

#Qanda do we know why young people generally have very minor health problems with COVID-19 infection? Are there researchers investigating this?

#Qanda we have allocated $189 billion to attempt to protect our society and economy What is stopping us testing everywhere it is needed? What is preventing us from doing this? @AlboMP @ScottMorrisonMP

Sadly what’s been predicted for two weeks now. Was inevitable if they didn’t do anything significant. They’ve focussed on blocking the borders. But not enough on social distancing which is all that works. Heartbreaking. Oh it would have been so good to have been wrong.

Australian government asks Netflix and Stan to reduce data to avoid broadband overload. 9 yrs ago we pushed for a full fibre network that would cope with 21st century needs. This Gov’t sold the lie and built nbn with obsolete copper #nbn #ditchTheCopper theguardian.com/media/2020/mar…

A big shout out to @superloopnet - they've opened up their plans to unlimited data during the current national emergency Others should follow their lead #connectivityIsEverything especially in these times

@MikeCarlton01 A slowing economy for a number of years, no economic policy, no energy policy, bushfires, climate change and now “the virus”. Canberra still fiddling & bereft of ideas and action. But where is the alternative voice?

Here’s a confident prediction. The Morrison “government” economic package to battle the corona virus will be: 1) too little. 2) too late 3) directed to all the wrong areas. 4) and therefore almost entirely ineffectual.
