As Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria and give thanks to Almighty God for guiding us through the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan, alongside the season of Lent, has taught us enduring lessons in patience, tolerance, sacrifice, and neighbourliness. These are not seasonal virtues. They are the foundation upon which we must continue to build our nation. We have embraced the principles of giving, peace, love for country, and kindness to one another. Now, we must live them. Let us continue to assist the needy, support the vulnerable, and remain our brother’s keeper. Good behaviour, good neighbourliness, and compassion for all must define us beyond this period. I pray for peace across our country. Stability, peace, and security are not the responsibility of one man alone. It is a collective duty. I urge all Nigerians to remain vigilant and to report suspicious movements within their communities. Our safety depends on our shared commitment. Let us carry forward the spirit of Ramadan in our actions, our words, and our service to one another. May God accept our sacrifices. Eid Mubarak.

This is one of the videos that made me start defending the Cubanas—and anyone who chooses to join any political group. If Peter Obi can align with this man in particular after all he and Muhammadu Buhari did for eight good years, then you don’t have the right to attack anyone for the political decisions they make.

Let me share a personal encounter and why I believe he is a man of destiny. During the SDP era, my dad was a leading and prominent figure in Agege. At the time, SDP politics in Lagos was deeply divided between two powerful factions — the Primrose group led by Chief Dapo Sarumi, and the Baba Kekere group led by Chief LKJ. Those who witnessed that period will remember how intense and, at times, brutal the political struggle was between these two groups. As the senatorial primaries for Lagos West approached, there was first a crucial state executive election within the party. Both factions were in a fierce battle for control, but Baba Kekere’s group won the majority of the positions. That victory gave them a clear advantage going into the primaries. About a week before the senatorial primary, it already seemed certain that Baba Kekere’s camp would dominate, and that the relatively unknown candidate backed by the Primrose group stood little chance. Then one night, everything changed. I saw a large Chevrolet SUV parked in front of our house. Stepping out were Chief Sarumi and that same “unknown” candidate. They asked for my dad, and I ushered them upstairs. My dad was visibly surprised by the visit. Chief Sarumi came with a simple request — for my dad’s support. The candidate, who happened to live around us in Agege, spoke passionately and eloquently about his vision and why he left a lucrative job at Mobil to pursue politics. As an engineering student at the time, just hearing “Mobil” immediately caught my attention and admiration. To cut a long story short, my dad told them he would consult with his group and get back to them. But for me, I was already convinced. I believed in him instantly. After they left, I even went the extra mile — speaking to party members around us, encouraging them to support him. I genuinely felt he would be a better representative for our people. Eventually, my dad’s group agreed to back him. And guess what? He went on to win the primary — and then the general election — convincingly. That “unknown man” is today the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. @officialABAT Life doesn’t always favour you at the start. But when destiny is involved, things have a way of aligning. I truly believe President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a God-ordained project. Ire ooo.
