ALEXANDER PARKES (1813-1890)

#Parkesine was a form of #celluloid made from nitrocellulose, which could be molded when heated and retain its shape when cooled, marking a significant step in the history of materials science.
Parkes patents his long worked-on plastic-based #cellulose. The word celluloid will be coined by J. W. Hyatt in 1888.
