We were overjoyed to have members of the Chicago Fire Department join us at the 9 am Easter Mass. Men and women from Battalion 3 Engine TL 10, Engine 14 Trk19, Engine 22 and Engine 30 came to rejoice in the Resurrection!

Hi Verena! Happy Easter! Decorating the church for both Christmas and Easter has been a longstanding tradition at our parish for the young women. Our priests and brothers help in this process as well. For our ladies this is a unique and special opportunity to help serve the parish where our young men are encouraged to participate in altar serving. God bless.

I’m sure a parish like this has many young men who are the type to be very interested in floral arrangements.

Easter preparations are complete thanks to the lovely young women of the parish who placed all the Easter flower’s following the Good Friday service!

On Holy Thursday we hear Our Lords question to us, “Could you not watch with me one hour?”

As we continue this journey through Holy Week let us pause and pray for those who will be enterin the Church at the Easter Vigil. Pray for their zeal to remain firm and for them to feel truly integrated into the life of their new parishes.  May they always feel the same joy, fervor, and hunger for Jesus that drew them to our Catholic faith on that very first day of their baptism! Leave words of encouragement and prayers for them in the comments.

At Tenebrae (Latin for “shadow” or “darkness”), we anticipate Christ’s suffering and death in stark contrast to the dazzling spectacle of Palm Sunday. Gradually all lights in the church are extinguished. The disappearance of the last light is accompanied by the startling strepitus, a great noise and shaking reminding us not only of the earthquake at Calvary but also of the cataclysmic effects of Our Lord’s Sacrifice of Himself.

We are grateful for the @Chicago_Police for aiding in our Palm Sunday Procession. Clearing traffic and blocking roads so we could witness to our Lords Passion in the streets of Chicago.
