Volgens hoogleraar Gebarentaal Onno Crasborn (@signrr), is het een absolute mijlpaal dat in augustus de Initiatiefwet Erkenning Nederlandse Gebarentaal besproken wordt door de Tweede Kamer. Toch lopen we nog behoorlijk achter t.o.v. Brazilië of Amerika: bit.ly/2D7u1ev.

Dankzij gebarentolk Irma Sluis staat gebarentaal vol in de belangstelling. Toch is er nog een flinke weg te gaan als het om dovenemancipatie gaat, zeggen gebarentaalhoogleraar Onno Crasborn (@signrr) en zijn promovenda Tashi Bradford (@TeviTweets).

Ondanks dat gebarentaal al in veel landen als officiële taal erkend wordt, is dit in Nederland nog niet het geval. Verschillende experts op het gebied van (gebaren)taal, waaronder @signrr, @ozyurek_a en @TomUittenbogert, pleiten voor erkenning: bit.ly/2XmzndA.

De gebarentolk is in tijden van #corona onmisbaar voor doven en slechthorenden. Irma Sluis is de tolk die Nederland voorziet van gebaren in de #coronacrisis. Met pedagoog Corrie Tijsseling benadrukt ze het belang van de tolk.
