A disgruntled comment on YouTube under my latest talk, during which I said very plainly that transgender children do not exist, contained this supposed gotcha: "The idea that transgender children do not exist flies in the face of reality, since we know that transgender adults do exist. How do we then explain their existence?" Simple. Transgender adults don't exist either. At least not in the sense that would require the existence of transgender children. There are many adults alive today who make sense of their lives through the political label of transgender. They may be autogynephilic men aroused by the fantasy of being women, who prefer the label transgender because it allows them to hide their erotic motivations. They may be transvestites, aroused simply by wearing women's clothing. They may be extremely gender-nonconforming homosexuals who medicalise as a way to blend in and be invisible. Or they may fall into that broad category who adopt the currently fashionable label of trans because it makes sense of their struggles and offers them a medical solution. Clearly, not one of those categories could ever be applied to children. The reply actually makes clear the danger of pretending that trans is a healthy, innate variation of human existence rather than rooted in paraphilic desires and mental disorder. So I stand by my statement: There is no such thing as a transgender child. I will die on this hill.

@SwipeWright @christopherrufo Many people I knew in the SF homeless shelter system didn’t get these destructive surgeries because they couldn’t afford them themselves, and the state didn’t pay for it like it does now. There are no more barriers between being confused about yourself and lifelong mutilation.

I totally reject the notion that Mahr's response to my paper represents a legitimate, equal alternative to my view that many aspects of reality are mind-independent. We are not merely "talking past each other" from different epistemological starting points. Mahr's view is actually incoherent and at odds with everything we know about material reality. And the fact that I even have to respond to such thorough nonsense is truly shocking. These ideas have no place in academia because they have no guardrails whatsoever. There is no limiting principle or empirical anchor that makes them self-correcting over a long enough timescale like the sciences. This means that, over time, these fields actually get more, not less, disconnected from reality. And then they start infecting legitimate fields like biology and try to tear down legitimate knowledge. These fields rooted in Critical Theory are totally fraudulent. They have no place in academia and do not deserve to be supported with taxpayer dollars.

I often freeze w/ guilt when over-serious about wrong goals → self-sabotage. “I should only take truly important stuff seriously.” Result: take nothing seriously. Chasing wrong things hard at least kills the fake progress illusion & naturally pivots me to better ones.

@elonmusk I took cross sex hormones for 18 years and had bottom surgery. At no point did my body reorganize itself around the opposite reproductive organs. Now I’m a dude who has to figure out how to live without his junk because of suicidal empathy. They prioritized my Instant relief.
