Delighted to say that today I signed a permanent contract for a Senior Lectureship @SoMSwansea. I'm joining their team teaching on sustainability and have schools and community engagement in my remit as well. I'm very happy and can't wait to start on Monday :D #NetZero #academia

Twitter crowd-sourced brains please: vegan/veggie food is generally low(er) carbon. What about vegan alternatives to animal based products (non-food)? Is there a general rule or is it case by case? Links to sources appreciated but opinions welcome too.

@BecksHewer All i engineering: placement reports are reflective and I ask that they use 1st person. But scientific articles need to rest on demonstrable evidence as objective as possible, avoiding the first person helps to keep subjective opinions at bay. Horses for courses i would say...

Why are people still encouraging students to avoid writing in the first person? Haven't we moved away from that yet?

@SamRolland I was in many different offices over the years in the Talbot building. I think this particular picture was taken in an office opposite the photocopy room that used to be a research office in the late 90s.

Just found this old picture of me. 25 years of doing computational science and engineering research on UNIX/LINUX based operating systems and still going... Here's me 1998 using an SGI Indy workstation!

Question for @SwanseabayNHS We've been trying to get a COVID vaccine for our 6 year old for weeks. We were unable to when it first became available because he had covid. Now he's eligible it's been stopped because of "low take up". How do we get him vaccinated?
