Whilst I believe John Cartwright is a stand-up bloke and would see his contract out, the higher-ups at Hull FC are surely going to cut ties now to save face. Six months of this is ugly and Cartwright has every right to feel this way as well, it's been handled awfully.

Gutted for the lad. Had played excellently so far this season but now faces a very uncertain future seen as years 2027 and 2028 are ‘triggered dependent upon the number of appearances he makes in the subsequent years’. Hopefully Saints put him right and give him a shot in 2027.

On second viewing, I think as soon as he lays down then the risk of any serious injury is over and yet he still kicks out. Should have been a red.

Tevaga probably fearing a leg break there and I think it's that mitigation that stops it being a red, which it otherwise would be.

@MarkWilsonRadio @SuperLeague Agreed, it's just disappointing from the RFL/RL Commercial that the Sportsman, who have covered a game every round brilliantly, don't get it themselves. Far more accessible but of course, it doesn't make money. I wouldn't mind but the coverage keeps cutting out.

How’s the @SuperLeague plus coverage going? Who is on commentary? Have many people subscribed?

Some context into this is the fact that they've hosted both French sides (minimal away fans) and Huddersfield, who themselves are the poorest attended club. A derby against Leeds and early-season interest creates a spike but these are really positive numbers for the Bulls.

That pack is pretty ridiculous for a Reserves side and the backs aren't bad too. Having lost Paasi and Wright, Saints have surely got to at least ask about a couple of these forwards for next week seen as Leeds are out of the Cup anyway.

Just the 69 tackles last night for Mellor and 55 for Sutton. Bar Andy Ackers' 51, no other Bradford player made more than 33. They're now 1st, 2nd and 4th for most tackles in Super League but they need some help from teammates as this can't be sustainable.

Hull FC's season is limping off down the tunnel and they've just been denied a try that very well could have been grounded. Not ideal.

Just wanted to share a bit of personal news. Today was my last working day with @SeriousAboutRL as I'll be taking over as editor at @AORugbyLeague next week. Really excited to be joining up with the team back at Reach and I can't wait to get going! 🏉

Such sad news. He'll have carried plenty of weight and trauma these past few years but always handled himself with such dignity, whilst speaking with a passion and emotion that made it clear to see where Rob got his drive from.

Worth noting those two games came in 2025 and were a 28-24 loss to Leigh and the loss to Wigan at Dewsbury when Farrimond scored in the final second to win it. Sacking Robinson was never the answer and it was unfair he never got the chance today.

In 40+ games Luke Robinson was only able to name his starting 1,6,7 & 9 twice. No surprise today when they're all starting that they put in a season-best performance. He's been horrifically done by from a club who use culture as a buzz word.

After the response I’ve received from the rugby league community over the past few days, it would feel uncharacteristic not thank the fans/friends who have reached out with messages of support following my departure from the Giants after 19 years. While I fully understand that this is a results-driven environment, the opening five games have not delivered the outcomes we all expected, however, the timing of my departure is particularly difficult, given we were on the eve of welcoming back key members of our starting line-up—players we believed would have a significant impact on performances and results moving forward. I also believe it is important to recognise the broader context of the past 18 months. Much of the work I’ve done during this period has focused on rebuilding the culture of the club, the playing group in particular —establishing standards, behaviours, and small but meaningful changes that I believed would create a strong foundation for sustained success. This has not always been immediately visible in results, but it has been central to the long-term strategy. I leave with immense pride in the years I have dedicated to the club, and with gratitude to the players, performance staff, and supporters. I am confident that the groundwork laid will benefit the club in the future. I hope the Giants can make the off field changes necessary to get a competive team out on the field consistently, giving the loyal Giants fans something to sing about.
