First of all, it's obviously not true that one-in-three people in the US is an illegal immigrant. That's only something a basement-dweller would say, or someone who thinks every foreign-looking person must be an illegal immigrant. Second, it's hilarious to me that anyone would believe these numbers (that Trump has been able to deport just 2% of illegals) and simultaneously think there is any possibility of deporting 98 MILLION more people. The proposal is DOA and always has been. There is simply nowhere close to the political or economic capital to deport 1/3 of the US population – it's a laughable idea 😆

No it isn't. Political capital isn't about future elections, it's about getting policies right now. It's typically used in context of politicians making deals with each other. For example, Trump signing a bill the GOP wants more then he does generates supposed "political capital", like a credit, in later deals with the GOP. It is not about elections, it's about policy and goals.

I understand the argument that the admin must do unpopular things for the good of the country, I have made this argument But if we're going to burn valuable political capital this is where it was supposed to be spent, not in the Middle East

Conservatives need to understand that liberalism isn't actually about spreading hegemonic woke values all over the world. It's actually just about human freedom and dignity.

What's really going on is they're burning every ounce of political capital Trump had for the benefit of Israel. It's hard to wrap your head around because something like this has never happened this fast and to this degree. The polls are apocalyptic.
