@NickFreiling @AuronMacintyre 1/3 of city population is believable though. Every grocery store or airport is a shocking nightmare for people born here before 1990.

First of all, it's obviously not true that one-in-three people in the US is an illegal immigrant. That's only something a basement-dweller would say, or someone who thinks every foreign-looking person must be an illegal immigrant. Second, it's hilarious to me that anyone would believe these numbers (that Trump has been able to deport just 2% of illegals) and simultaneously think there is any possibility of deporting 98 MILLION more people. The proposal is DOA and always has been. There is simply nowhere close to the political or economic capital to deport 1/3 of the US population – it's a laughable idea 😆

100 million 100 million illegals and so far we’ve deported 2 million including self deportations
Gregory K Bovino@GregoryKBovino

Our time is short @SaraGonzalesTX . Mass deportations will correct this, worst of the worst won’t. If Plano, Texas, of all places, has this problem, then you can see how there are 100 million illegal aliens in our country. Commence mass deportations . @nicksortor

@Serious_Tex @MaxNordau @Pontifex @grok It's not part of the culture and everybody knows it. Evangelicals are the used car salesmen of Christianity, not Catholics. It's really beneath the dignity of the church. Argue with somebody else. You have no idea what you're talking about and I block idiots.

Communion between Christians and Muslims takes shape under the mantle of Our Lady of Africa. Here, in #Algeria, the maternal love of Lalla Meryem gathers everyone as children, within our rich diversity, in our shared aspiration for dignity, love, justice, and peace. In a world where division and wars sow pain and death, living in unity and peace is a compelling sign. #ApostolicJourney

@logotrix @MaxNordau @Pontifex @grok If they don't at all they are disobeying papal dictates as well. There are many groups and organizations committed to Catholic evangelization. They are less trained to share their faith personally as you note, but that is a violation of their church's plan not its true practice.

@goodforharriers @AuronMacintyre @BanePiller1352 It means you have a certain amount of excess popularity that allows you to accomplish policies you previously couldn't because they aren't popular. George W. had political capital from majority win in 2004 to reform SS and "intended to use it". Trump is squandering his on war.

No it isn't. Political capital isn't about future elections, it's about getting policies right now. It's typically used in context of politicians making deals with each other. For example, Trump signing a bill the GOP wants more then he does generates supposed "political capital", like a credit, in later deals with the GOP. It is not about elections, it's about policy and goals.

Conservatives need to understand that liberalism isn't actually about spreading hegemonic woke values all over the world. It's actually just about human freedom and dignity.

One of Magyar's main criticisms of Orban is that he let in too many migrants and will slash legal immigration, especially foreign work visas. Magyar is not the liberal that some Americans are fantasizing

@AuronMacintyre @BanePiller1352 The point is one is not exclusive from the other despite how many keep claiming. If Trump isn't doing mass-deportations it's because he doesn't want to, not because the war with Iran has drained his "capital".

@realJeremyCarl @braxton_mccoy By all means, deport them all, but let’s be honest. There’s a surplus of homes because people can’t afford to buy them and they can’t afford to buy them because of inflation. Anyone who has sold a house in the last several years knows buyers aren’t competing with third worlders.

Miller's dodge on the act is concerning He had a golden opportunity to slam everyone involved and instead reframed to "valuable immigration" This is the red line, if the admin won't openly denounce these people while endorsing Lindsay Graham there's nothing left to save
Jesse Kelly@JesseKellyDC

The Trump Administration needs to come out today and say the DIGNIDAD Act will not become law. The longer this is out there, the more momentum it gets. The more momentum it gets, the more the base gets disenfranchised. Kill this. Now.

On the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, the German Chancellor should bow his head and apologize a thousand times on behalf of Germany, rather than daring to preach morality to us on how to conduct ourselves against the Nazis of our generation—who murdered, raped, slaughtered, and burned women, the elderly, and children in the most horrific massacre perpetrated against the Jewish people since the terrible Holocaust. We will not accept instructions from hypocritical leaders in Europe, a continent that is once again losing its conscience and its ability to distinguish between good and evil. Mr. Chancellor, The days when Germans dictated to Jews where they were permitted or forbidden to live are over and shall not return. You will not force us into ghettos again, certainly not in our own land. Our return to the Land of Israel—our biblical and historical homeland—is the answer to anyone who tried or tries to destroy us, and we do not apologize for it for a single moment. Am Yisrael Chai 🇮🇱

So many people still in the “hilarious, don’t take things so seriously” stage of denial. This post was paired with an absurd and idiotic diatribe aimed at the Pope. One of the only clear signs of integrity left anymore is a person’s ability to rise above the social contagion of their own tribe.

What's really going on is they're burning every ounce of political capital Trump had for the benefit of Israel. It's hard to wrap your head around because something like this has never happened this fast and to this degree. The polls are apocalyptic. No sane political movement with any agency of its own would ever behave this way. Whether it's blackmail, bribery, threats of violence, or whatever, it couldn't be more obvious. It's like a mass sacrifice.

@ripplebrain Is American jingoism really this unstoppable? I don’t understand how American society can be like this, even if you manufacture consent. Trump was elected in part because people were tired of foreign interventionism, yet it seems this base has evaporated.

Sorry to say it but the war cannot end until the Strait of Hormuz is open and it will never be safe with the current Iranian leadership. This is a Realist position, not a Neocon one (before Realists traded their foundational theoretical ideas to instead just vilify Israel).
