The absolute best way to understand the difference between US and Mexican culture is to watch how people leave a dinner party. 🇺🇸 The US: You wait for a lull in conversation, announce to the table that it is getting late, thank the host, and walk to your car. Total time: five minutes max 🇲🇽 The Mexican: You announce you are leaving. This initiates a new round of conversation. Ten minutes later, you stand up. Then you go to every single person in the room for a hug, a kiss on the cheek, and a small departing chat. Total time: thirty minutes, at least It is an entire social event you have to build into your schedule, but it’s one of the many reasons Mexican culture feels so warm and welcoming.

A father found out that his son's middle school, Cascade Middle School in Seattle (part of @HighlineSchools), brought him to an anti-ICE protest in middle of the school day. His son's teacher left the classroom with all the other students, leaving him alone in the classroom. He didn't want to be alone and therefore went along. The teachers took the kids on a walk through White Center, Washington for the protest. Many areas there aren't particularly safe. Per the father, the school alleged that they gave the kids options if they wanted to go or not. They also claimed that it was the kids' choice to protest and that the teachers were just joining. Per the school's principal, both teachers and school security were in attendance. This violates Washington State law 28A.605.010, which prohibits children from being removed from school grounds during school hours without permission from the children's parents or legal guardian.

Did you not read what I said? We DO THAT, exactly that, and we're called "bitch" for doing it. Men are direct b/c they tolerate directness from each other. They do NOT tolerate it from women, I assure you (at least not those who would do something as dumb as leaving a wet towel on the bed). I worked for many years in a male-dominated field after I left teaching (tech consulting), and I was always very direct. I never used up-talk, or prefaced my questions or statements with ego-soothing qualifiers, and you know what happened? No matter how closely my TONE matched my male counterparts, I would be routinely pulled into an office by my bosses and told to "tone it down" or "stop being so harsh." Direct when you're female translates to "bitchy." I promise you, I have always asked the men in my life to do things exactly as you describe, and it has NEVER gone well.

They assume men should operate with the same internal wiring as women, which they simply do not.
