In early November, Ilhan Omar said she’s “not the 8-year-old who escaped war anymore… I’m grown, my kids are grown, and I can thrive anywhere.” Last night Trump ended TPS for Somalis in Minnesota, pointed to billions stolen through Somali fraud, and declared: “Send them back to where they came from. It’s OVER!” Hours later Omar fires back: “I am a citizen and so are majority of Somalis in America… we are here to stay.” Amazing how fast “I can thrive anywhere” turned into “you can’t send us anywhere” the moment Trump made it real.
