@3MPYR3 I see a lot of management advice call this "being nice vs being kind." Things like "shit sandwich" feedback is something they tell you because it fakes this, but really it comes down to just being kind.

@AITA_reddit Yet another post with a couple that can't communicate and don't even seem to like each other, eh?

@redditships Even if this was a "lmao, funny joke" situation, a partner who says "you're not serious, chill out" when you tell them you're done isn't someone worth keeping in your life.

@AITA_reddit I'm shocked at how easy of a layup the airbnb situation is and OP still missed it. One of the few real social benefits to an HOA is that they're usually anti-landlord. Somehow they managed to make that unsympathetic.

@AITA_reddit We're all on the same page that "Josh" is bringing up these "issues" right after either they have sex or OP tells him it isn't happening, right?

@AITA_reddit Whoa whoa whoa. The comment saying OP is "not a host by choice" is way off base. It absolutely is a choice to have someone living in your home, regardless of relation This just isn't a relationship that survives living together. They both need to look at an exit plan for mom.

@typicalfeminist @AITA_reddit It's one extreme or the other: either the height of fine dining is unseasoned meat and potato, or they're a foodie who insists every meal should be 4 courses and every ingredient must be organic or heirloom. There's no middle ground.

@alecialynn @AITA_reddit IMO, the flowers in isolation aren't crossing a line, but intentionally taking an action you know your current partner thinks is a crossing boundaries is definitely a problem. His actions and GF are incompatible and he knew it, and hid it rather than trying to resolve things.

@AITA_reddit Whew. Reading through this I kept getting more and more nervous this was going to end with OP getting rid of the cat over this just to find out it kept happening. This is still awful, but I'm relieved it wasn't that bad.

@AITA_reddit So, this was totally premeditated, right? There's no way this guy went out to the store after all this and bought 30 pairs of socks, then snuck into the house and she didn't notice. There's basically no way he didn't already have the socks and was waiting for an excuse.

@AITA_reddit Pretty easy NTA. I'd give the sister $3 for dry cleaning and tell her she's not allowed to watch the dog again since she basically poisoned the pup.

@GradeBMaple @xMadMags @such_hockey_wow @redditships No, but a better analogy would be you drive over to their place and run over their dog/cat while parking. It's a first date. It sucks, but you don't have a ton of time invested and he already has a bunch of negative feelings due to this. Apologize and let him go.

@AITA_reddit ESH. The kid is clearly a massive asshole, but the dad intentionally did something to hurt his kid on a holiday. His response sounds prepared, and the candy thing sounds like he argued with the mom to make sure it worked out this way. Kid massively sucks, dad is being malicious.

@AITA_reddit How do I know its a fake job? Because Chief of Staff is a real thing, and the entire point is to make it so execs don't have to deal with the staff directly. If it was a real job, OP would have fired the lady on her own, not telling the CEO and having him handle it.

@AITA_reddit There's a lot of hate for this one, but I'd go with NTA. If you give a 5 year old fireworks, you can't blame them for starting a fire. The CEO created a fake position and gave it to their unexperienced SO without any expectations they could actually do the job. They're TA.

@redditships That line about "didn't want to come get beer with me same day" stands out to me. $20 he's texting his buddy at 4 pm going "hey man, let's go get wasted when you get off at 5." I'd be pissed too.

@naima @AITA_reddit Something like this is what jumped out at me. Its not necessarily that she thinks the vegetables are BAD, MIL thinks they're bad to serve for a bit party she's putting on.

@AITA_reddit Depending on how MIL grew up, what she considers "loony" colored vegetables may trigger memories of having to eat imperfect produce as a kid bc of cost. Today it's trendy, but if you had to do it out of necessity there could be shame attached.

@SimonJadis @AITA_reddit Yeah. Focusing on floors mopped and dishes done makes me suspicious this is "the couch is covered with your clutter. Can you clear it off before you go to work?" Seems weird there's no mention of what the complaints actually are.

@AITA_reddit I have no way of judging whether BF is genuinely a neat freak and OP is normal or whether BF likes things clean and OP doesn't mind if crumbs accumulate on the ground until they crunch like dry oatmeal under her feet, but I'm leaning towards #1 with a dash of OP not cleaning well

@ErrantDreams @redditships @AITA_reddit Yeah. My guess here is she works for a government contractor in DC, feels she is on path to become upper leadership, and the husband got a job offer at a foreign embassy.

@redditships @AITA_reddit Or the other way around. She may work for a government contractor (she mentions clearance) and it sounded like his job would actually harm her ability to get clearance.
