@AndyBissitt @myeyemyview Well, they have taken down all the hides at Radipole and Lodmoor in Dorset and replaced them with "shelters " that are, erm, not sheltered...so can't see that was necessary.

@SmalePerry @myeyemyview I think they generally know what they are doing. Expect more bird feeders to disappear as their connections with bird diseases become clearer.

RSPB Geltsdale today. Goodness knows what this reserve is about, they've removed all the wire fences that small birds used to sit on. They've put these very large stones on the footpaths and removed the seed feeder cage. Very few small birds and a waste of time for photos

@RosemaryBuckla2 Nope, nothing! Walked the whole site, checked all areas, and not a sniff! The breeding square is not there, for second year running. Hares, Rabbits, etc…but no Stone Curlews or Lapwings….just lots of Corvids.

A nice day out in the Spring sunshine, taking in Salisbury Plain, and local sites. Always nice to see the flock of Great Bustards,regardless of their status, and singing Corn Buntings too. But….what has happened to the breeding/fenced off area on Winterbourne for Stone Curlews?

This is the larger of the two islands. The United Kingdom (UK) is Britain and a country of the island of Ireland (Northern Ireland) together. Ireland is, as we have said, the other island. But Ireland itself is made up of two countries: The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This odd situation is compounded by a good many Northern Ireland residents who insist on calling themselves British. (We’ll leave the politics of that out of this post…) Both the islands of Ireland and Britain combined are called the British Isles in a geographic sense. But this framing is contested by many Irish residents, who dislike the term British, for exactly the same reason that some Northern Irish folk love it. Following so far? My first ever visit to Salisbury Plain to see the Great Bustards. At 14.00 19 were giving excellent scope views. A bit too far for my phone though

@theiaincameron The only thing that be concluded is that this is area is a minefield. British Isles is not a term used in Republic of Ireland for example.

Spent 2.5hrs in Faggs Wood & Birchett Wood yesterday (Friday) pm in what seemed like good conditions. Disappointed to see only 2 Large Tortiseshells in Faggs and none in Birchett. Only 1 settled for photos. No Brimstones but many Peacocks, Commas & Dark Edge Beeflies. 1 of 2.

Somewhat counter-intuitively, Edinburgh is farther west than Bristol, and Scotland has the westernmost point in the UK (Ardnamurchan).
