Hi @thameswater water coming up from the pavement outside the RISC shop in Reading. What3words is sting natively loaded.

In the library to finish off the reading challenge and Mr 5 loved this so much that he asked for a "forever copy" for home - I nabbed the last copy available from Amazon! Recognised the author name as @MrEagletonIan who wrote Nen, a previous firm favourite! You have a fan!

Hi @thameswater not sure if this is yours but there is a stream of water bubbling out from the bottom of a garden and flowing down the path by the Milestone Centre in Caversham, Reading (the is the footpath going under Northbrook Road).

@CyclingCardiff @criticalmassrdg @readingcycle The ones going 30mph uphill without pedalling aren't legally bikes. But if an illegal ebike is behaving in a way that makes it indistinguishable from a legal (assist speed limited) ebike (or even a normal bike with a strong rider) -why worry?

@SmartHilary @criticalmassrdg @readingcycle No absolutely not. One of the issues is that if a bike has a battery, it's hard to distinguish between a legal one and a non-legal one.

@CyclingCardiff @criticalmassrdg @readingcycle Yeah, I get that, but please don't campaign to stop legal responsibly ridden ebikes from having access to cycle and shared use infrastructure. If we don't make the distinction I worry legislation will target both. We don't want to push those families back into cars.

@SmartHilary @criticalmassrdg @readingcycle That's good, I have nothing against responsible cyclists. I haven't seen many cargo bikes around and I am glad that they are being used. There is a different between a family doing that and someone tearing through the ped zone probably on their phone.

@CyclingCardiff @criticalmassrdg @readingcycle The majority of parents that I know who carry more than one kid on a cargo bike require the assistance of a battery (at least uphill) to do so. And I'd say the ones I know cycle responsibly.

@criticalmassrdg @readingcycle Absolutely. Cargo bikes don't automatically = e-bikes. I don't have an issue with e-bikes per say, but I rarely see anyone using one responsibly. It feels like the boundaries of what is allowed in the ped area are being blurred. Motorbikes are also parking around cycle racks.

@DanWuori My older boy met his brother in the hospital, but he was at home with his Grandpa when we bought baby home. He ran to greet us when we arrived and called to Grandpa, "It is Mummy, and Daddy, and MY baby!!"

You may want to grab a tissue before you turn on the sound. This sweet little guy is overcome with emotion when he meets his baby brother for the first time. His first words: “You’re my best friend forever.” What a lovely reflection on his family’s preparation for the newborn’s arrival.

Hi @readingcouncil these traffic lights by Forbury have been down for over a week. Based on past experience of pedestrian light repairs I guess they could be out for a while. This is a key bike route over a busy road. Any chance of temporary lights @Redcaversham ?

This isn't on our regular school run but I went back this way today and found it was fixed. Hurrah!

@DanWuori I love how little ones use the language they have to communicate the concepts they don't have words for yet. My littlest once told me, "The wood gave me a bee sting." He had never heard the word "splinter".

Does your toddler call every animal a dog? Or call the moon a ball? Both are examples of a perfectly normal toddler behavior known as overextension. There’s a lot of language to learn as a toddler - and so it’s not uncommon for young children to generalize use of the words they DO know to make up for those they don’t. I loved watching this little guy (shared to IG by LeannePearson and shown here at 26 months) as he measures a chair with a tape measure. “How big is it?” Mom asks. Our hero’s brilliant response: “Thirteen dollars.” It’s a wonderful example of overextension - and window on his growing language development. You’ll note that $13 is not a random or outlandish response. He knows that the situation calls for a quantity and a unit of measure. The word “inches”isn’t a part of his linguistic toolbox just yet… but dollars is. What a clever and telling response! I can’t help but think that in the moments after this video some new vocabulary was introduced. Where does/did your child use overextension to describe things?

Well I was impressed with how quickly @ReadingCouncil replaced the bollard but apparently this is not a very safe place for a bollard to live because its successor has been taken out too.

Hi @ReadingCouncil this half of the pedestrian crossing outside the Travellers Rest is not working. My son and I waited four cycles of the lights before we risked crossing in the short gap between traffic. This crossing on a busy road gets high levels of use from schoolchildren.
