@whatfreshhellll @Kuscheldrache @zarathepirate @nickimoraa I mean, I get the mom being pissy, though I'd expect the boyfriend to have his girlfriends back
English

@SoYeahAboutThat @Kuscheldrache @zarathepirate @nickimoraa Ideally yeah but mothers are run by emotion. it was a power play, you can't just dominate someone in a battle of egos and go "what did I do wrong" lmao either bask in it or let her win, don't win and cry about it
English

My boyfriend's mom made mashed potatoes that tasted like CAKE and now his whole family is mad at me. We're at Sunday dinner, I take a bite, and immediately I'm like ??? why are these sweet? Not a little sweet, like genuinely dessert sweet. I kinda laugh and ask, 'wait are these sweet?' These were russet potatoes, btw, like someone dumped a whole bag of brown sugar in them. I'm 23 and not even from the US, so this was wild to me
She says 'yeah that’s how i make them,' and I just say I’ve never had sweet mashed potatoes before. It gets SO awkward, dead quiet. I try to eat them, I really do, but it’s gravy on dessert and my brain just can’t process it. So I stop eating them.
She notices and asks 'you don’t like them?' I say 'they’re just a bit sweet for me.' Then my boyfriend jumps in like 'they’re not even sweet' which LIKE they literally are?!
English

@whatfreshhellll @Kuscheldrache @zarathepirate @nickimoraa If you throw shade, don't be mad when it gets thrown back...
English

@Kuscheldrache @zarathepirate @nickimoraa "some people just aren't used to real cooking"
"heh, I guess not"
like, you got the last word with a mom, what did you expect? you can't dunk on her and take the high road lol

@absenteewarlord @keysmashbandit Underpromise, (maybe) overdeliver!
English

@keysmashbandit overstating your IQ is a rookie mistake - it makes people ask why your high-percentile intelligence hasn’t translated into high-percentile success. that’s why i always introduce myself as having a professionally tested IQ of 95.
English

Everyone's IQ is exactly 100. Stop thinking about it
Daniel Vega@dubitaniel
This is what the self-reported IQ distribution looks like btw

@Inno_Ne @TotallyNotDrex If you do it so often, it should be easy to provide an example or three.
As for me, I think my life is pretty typical, my computer activity consists of writing my thesis, programming, video games and browsing the internet.
Not a lot of repeadly punching in numbers.
English

@SoYeahAboutThat @TotallyNotDrex Also, I input multiple numbers by hand many, many times a day as a matter of course. I find it more strange when someone isn't. What the hell is going on in your life where numbers are such a miniscule part of it? Don't tell me. I'm scared to find out. 😨
English

@Inno_Ne @TotallyNotDrex Yeah the diagram is not to scale, it was simply to provide you with a visual aid of what I meant when I said "[immediately] to the right of the rest of the
keyboard" ("immediately" omitted due to character limit, and me thinking it was obvious from context, but alas)
English

@SoYeahAboutThat @TotallyNotDrex I like how the gap from the end of the keyboard to the mouse has somehow and pointlessly doubled between the no numpad to the numpad.
Fact is, kb/m was made with full keyboards in mind first. It is the default, and rightly so. Small keyboard dudes are all freaks, simple as.
English

@securityweekly My laptop has this really cool easter egg where it'll boot to a completely black screen with no indication that it's working for like a full 10 seconds on the first boot after a BIOS update.
English

@proananationnnn "Would you take 1 (one) breath for 2 bajillion dollars?"
English

is this not that much food or am i an absolute fattie... like it's a big meal but not THAT crazy
Food Crush@CozycupC6149
If someone offered you $100 to eat all of this for breakfast in one sitting, could you do it?
English

@XBOXPissBaby @715yurt I mean, I try to avoid touching public buttons and handles with my hands. I'd probably press this elevator button with my elbow or maybe my knuckle.
English

@SoYeahAboutThat @715yurt keeping them generally clean and going above and beyond to make sure you dont touch stuff without protection are two different things
English

we need to expose hypochondriacs to traumatizing amounts of filth
ALUTHEDON@Mbakaza4L
What do you feel about this?
English

@XBOXPissBaby @715yurt I touch my face all the time. Also I touch all sorts of stuff I carry with me. Why not try to just keep my hands generally clean, instead of making sure to not touch something I don't want to get dirty all the time?
English

@715yurt you can still wash your hands before u eat anything or touch your face, its disgusting but its one in a million
English

@XBOXPissBaby @235antz You understand not all bacteria are the same right?
English

@235antz theres up to 100 trillion bacteria in your digestive system, theres a million deadly bacteria on your fingers in your eyelids on your lips constantly
people just do not understand that they're barely doing anything by limiting their exposure, and not even training immune system
English

@panthurrrr @eletricsaberman Good firmware is a must, I'm never buying another keyboard that's not QMK-compatible. Ended up bricking that 60% board trying to rid it of that toggle.
English

@SoYeahAboutThat @eletricsaberman in fairness i use a wooting which has incredible firmware options
but I prefer 60% mostly for the symmetry. you get one whole fully symmetric row of keys compared to zero, and the rest are pseudo symmetric.
English

@faggotdeer @panthurrrr @eletricsaberman I fw dedicated numpads if you have a good use for one, but I can't say I personally found a single good use for one in the ~15 years I had one on my keyboard.
English

@panthurrrr @SoYeahAboutThat @eletricsaberman I used to use numpad for buy binds in CS as well as Minecraft mod packs that have tons of binds with many of them overlapping as well as other miscellaneous things. I fw dedicated numpads but still can't deny that 100%s are more convenient for productivity
English

@rustyxrbter @anzhouzhe @eletricsaberman 2/2
Tilting also makes it awkward to use the right side of the keyboard. It can work for like, playing a shooter where I only use left hand and don't move it, not day to day.
Again, all this for what? There's no upside. Had a numpad for most of my life, practically never used it
English

@rustyxrbter @anzhouzhe @eletricsaberman 1/2
Look I tried tilting it for like 10 years, I either tilted it to the point it was uncomfortable, or kept hitting it with my mouse.
My hobbies are mostly at a computer, my job is at a computer, I spend, and plan to spend a lot of time here.
I need to take care of my wrists.

Are femboys mass produced in a factory or why is it always the exact same amazon basic outfits?

@Cloudmoding @thereisnobeth Omg literally me frfr
I've read a handful of conference papers, and that's about it
English

@thereisnobeth I think in my 5 years of university education I’ve maybe read enough pages to make-up 1 mid length novel
English

I think fondly of the one network engineering lecturer I had to expected comp-sci undergraduates to read though thousands of pages each week
emmy rākete 🇵🇸@cannibality
in my experience most competent graduate students can handle around 70 to 80,000 pages of reading per week
English

@thereisnobeth I've yet to open a book during my degree.
I'm currently writing my master thesis.
