Loved meeting the proud people of Dublin Pride. To our LGBTQIA+ community: Tá sé de cheart agaibh a bheith díreach mar atá sibh. I stand with you. The promise of Irish republicanism is equality. Pride reminds us that promise must extend to every person, in every community, without exception.  I want to build an Ireland where no one is denied equality, dignity or safety because of who they are or who they love. “Love loves to love love.” — James Joyce Bród sona daoibh go léir.

@TeamUnion_UK The North of Ireland isn’t a country, it never has been, it never will be. It is a failed state created on sectarianism.

British MLA Diana Armstrong doesn't hold back about the SDLP's latest attempt to convince the British in Ulster to give away their country. “This is another talking shop preaching to the converted, and it won't shift the dial one inch on a united Ireland. The SDLP are billing one of their panelists as a 'former Ulster Unionist,' but someone who walked away from the party is hardly the unionist voice this event is pretending to platform. It's window dressing, a bit of borrowed balance to dress up a room where everyone already agrees".

Ulster Unionist Party@uuponline

✍️Writing in today's News Letter, Ulster Unionist Deputy Leader Diana Armstrong MLA has responded to the SDLP's latest constitutional event, "The Future of these Islands: Preparing for Change," which took place at The MAC in Belfast yesterday. Diana Armstrong MLA said: “The 'future of these islands' is as clear as it was in 1998; Northern Ireland will remain part of the United Kingdom while maintaining good relations with the Republic of Ireland, underpinned by the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and strong British-Irish ties. “This is another talking shop preaching to the converted, and it won't shift the dial one inch on a united Ireland. The SDLP are billing one of their panelists as a 'former Ulster Unionist,' but someone who walked away from the party is hardly the unionist voice this event is pretending to platform. It's window dressing, a bit of borrowed balance to dress up a room where everyone already agrees. “People here aren't lying awake worrying about constitutional panels at The MAC. They want government to work, waiting lists down and public services delivered. That's where our focus is.”

This is the shocking moment an 80-year-old woman was deliberately blocked on the stairs at a Tube station by a man who refused to move, despite her clearly needing the handrail for support. The woman calmly explained that she wanted to get up the stairs, but instead of showing basic decency, the man continued filming and told her not to touch him. It was obvious as well she needed to hold on to the handrail for support as well which makes it even more disgusting behaviour from this cretin. When he smugly told her to “go round,” she replied: “I can’t.” He snapped back: “You can, you’ve got legs.” When she told him she was 80 years old, his cold response was simply: “So?” Just let that sink in. What has happened to basic manners, respect, and common decency in this country? There was once a time when people were taught to respect their elders, help those less able, and show simple courtesy without hesitation. Now you have to ask, have we lost that completely. What’s your reaction to this story?

If you want to stand for election here, you should be a British citizen. However, the SNP have now confirmed that they will bring forward measures to allow foreign nationals to stand in next year’s council elections 😬 Reform UK will oppose this every step of the way.

Hi Blair from @ScotNational, My interaction with Derek McInnes, at Ibrox today, was not ‘TENSE’. You’ve made that up. I didn’t feel any tension at all, in fact, my third question got a laugh from behind me. The reason I asked Derek questions about Hearts is because he hadn’t, up until today, spoken verbally about leaving Tynecastle. Derek, who I spoke to privately afterwards, had no issue with my questions. We chatted, we laughed, we move on and I wished him all the best. To describe our exchange as ‘Tense’ was wrong but being wrong is something that’s become a regular occurrence at The National. All the best Ewen thenational.scot/sport/26225373…

This really upset me. What if this was your nan or relative?! An elderly woman was trying to get up the stairs and this arrogant POS stood in her way and wouldn’t move! How hard would it have been for him to move? 😡 Nasty little prick.

The future of Ireland should be decided by the people of Ireland. Éire nua. Éire aontaithe. We have a huge opportunity to reunite our country and shape our own future, here at home. By seizing this opportunity, we can build a new Ireland that works for everyone. The first step is getting Sinn Féin’s Irish Unity Bill passed in the Dáil on July 7th. Ag tógáil todhchaí na hÉireann.

People can use the excuse of “squad player” all they like but filling our team with players who aren’t good enough to push us forward and add no resale value is terrible business. We are absolutely going backwards.

I will love, support and cheer on Scotland as much as anyone but what a farce this 2026 World Cup is. We could be utterly pumped by Brazil tomorrow night - 5-0, 6-0 - and still “go through” after one goal in three matches and sticking by our strict aversion to attacking football. I’m not sure this quite qualifies as “succeeding where every previous Scotland team at a World Cup has failed.” It is more than a mite preposterous.

INSANE! Lib Dem-led Oxfordshire Council have WON their High Court injunction to BAN people putting flags in the street. Anyone who puts up flags could face up to 2 YEARS in *prison* or an unlimited fine. The Britain-hating Lib Dems should be ashamed of themselves. DISGRACEFUL!

🚆 A transformative investment of almost £200 million has today been confirmed for the Belfast–Dublin and Derry–Belfast train services. This will cut journey times, modernise tracks on both routes, and ensure the new hourly Belfast–Dublin service continues to be funded into the future! I want to commend our Sinn Féin Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins, the Irish Government, and our European partners, who have worked together to deliver a total investment of nearly €1 billion in all-Ireland rail in recent months.
