We're launching our first official Hytale modding contest with $100,000 in total prizes!
But this isn't just a contest. This is the start of something much bigger.
My vision for Hytale has always been that modders should be celebrated, not sidelined. The people who pour their creativity into pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the game deserve to be front and center. They deserve to be rewarded. Think of it like esports, but for modders. We want to build an ecosystem where talent rises to the top, where the community recognizes and elevates the people making incredible things. This contest is the first step. There will be many more.
For this first contest, we chose World Gen V2 and NPC as two of our three categories very intentionally. These are areas where we know extraordinary talent exists, and honestly, we're scouting. If you blow us away, don't be surprised if we reach out. We want the best modders in the world working alongside us.
And looking ahead: over the coming months, we'll be rolling out more modding tools, an in-game mod browser, and a lot more. We're also thinking deeply about how players can directly reward the modders they love, without turning the game into a shopping mall. It should be fair for players and meaningful for creators.
This is just the beginning.

What small features or quality-of-life improvements would you like us to add to Hytale in the short term?
I already have a massive list from the in-game feedback button, Discord, Reddit, YouTube, and other social platforms, so we are not running out of things to do!
That said, I am curious to see what you think should be the highest priority!

@Simon_Hypixel @UncleMatpat A quick win would be allowing players to use ropes to explore downwards. New ropes should automatically attach to the bottom of an existing one (that would be easier for building too)
It feels pretty immersive too

Hiring automation & tinkering devs/designers for Hytale!
We’re exploring physics-driven systems built around real, physical parts. Gears, shafts, belts, pulleys, rotation, motion, power generation and transmission, logic, and machines that players can assemble, break, and optimize.
The design challenge is to make it feel like a natural extension of the game, fully optional, easy to engage with at a small scale, yet capable of deep complexity and automation for players who want to go further!
Tag a dev or modder who builds this kind of stuff. I’ll be scouting in the coming weeks, and roles will be open to apply for if needed by then!

@iPokeNinja Can we have a more polished version of Pokemon models than in Minecraft ? The Minecraft models wouldn't match the Hytale esthetic 😅

@Vilvert_JF @Simon_Hypixel Idk how having more seed would fix your issue: imo the real issue is the roots are destroying dirt blocs and we can't generate dirt blocs
In the time being I would recommend you to chose a dedicated spot for your tree farm and put a teleported at that place

@Simon_Hypixel Simon, please make trees drop their respective seeds.
I have to walk very far from my base to avoid deforesting the area around it.
Going back and forth just to replant is a lot of work.
Loving the game — please consider this 🙏🌱

@Simon_Hypixel I had fun creating a lore reason for machines to exist in Hytale, with tech obsessed moles that love to build complex machines.
And they would be the NPC's that ease the player into using the system.
(But I also really like the ideas for magic-based automation systems)
