Just pointing out that I broke the story 7 months ago that Mandelson failed vetting from the security services and put it to Downing Street...so the idea that Downing Street only found out on Tuesday is complete nonsense.

This day April 17th (1939) during the night, 80 workmen in just over 10 hours re-laid the whole of the main and side tracks at Pitsea Junction. The upline track was finished ahead of schedule and only slight delays were reported when the junction fully re-opened. (SStan 20/4/39)
