The Annual Wolfe Tone Commemoration will take place this coming Sunday 14th June.
Assembling at the crossroads below Bodenstown Churchyard, Co. Kildare at 2.30pm.
Main oration will be delivered by Ard Chomhairle member John Joe McCusker.
Calling on all members and supporters to make a special effort to attend!

That’s true. Also would add that a lot of the things trads yearn for today (the cathedral schools, the expansion of the papacy’s temporal power) were innovations in their 12th century context. All traditions originate somewhere.

The thing you have to realize about trads is that it’s all fake. Once a tradition is over it’s over. People in the 12th century weren’t trads it was just the lived reality. By trying to be trad you are already not being trad. The most trad thing you can do is just be normal.

@Shizz617209 Yeah if we’re talking about the 70s onward you’re right, all the major orgs called themselves socialist. By “big tent” I mean that in practice a wide variety of views existed amongst individual Republicans, and that this was always the case

@StanRogers83 Yeah of course, what you said is an undeniable fact. But i think presenting it as being "big tent" in the sense of the leadership and organization is not accurate. Because all major orgs were dedicated to a socialist view.

The green book literally says that the goal of the struggle was to establish a socialist republic in Ireland (PIRA 1977)

Seeing the worst takes imaginable on here about the IRA from unlettered American RWers. Irish Republicanism was not “always Marxist”, its policies changed depending on the decade and iteration; but even in its most left wing and right wing periods, it was/is a big tent.

@Shizz617209 The IRSP and Officials were more clear cut in their socialism; though the Provisionals were eclectic and their views changed over time

@Shizz617209 The social and economic program of the Provisional movement pre-1982, Éire Nua, fashioned itself as a native Irish socialism and did not advocate abolishing private property. Overall left leaning in tenor, but not socialism in the classical sense

@StanRogers83 reject capitalism , conservatism , social liberalism , marxism left/right paradigm and seek our own way outside frameworks that currently prevail. try to make our path forward again.

I had a similar reaction upon reading Magnifica Humanitas in full. The possibility that AI might be qualitatively different from other technologies and thus a greater threat to the integral person needs to be brought to the fore.
