Canada is not a democracy. It's not even a free nation anymore. How could it be when Parliament is sidelined for eight months, allowing the executive branch to reign unchecked? Or when foreign interference is ignored and elections are gamed? Or when courts rule that the government broke the law and nothing changes? Or when the state controls your speech, your property, your energy, your news, your guns, your healthcare—and offers you assisted suicide when the wait times get too long? Canada has become something else: a managed oligarchy with democratic trappings, where the individual exists to serve the state. Look how far Canada has fallen. Because this could be America's future overnight.

🇪🇺🇺🇦 THE EU OFFICIALLY APPROVED A €90 BILLION LOAN TO UKRAINE. Meanwhile, in Lvov, a military conscription vehicle ran over a woman trying to stop her son from being forcibly mobilized. That's what the money is funding.

The EU is finally giving the long-awaited loan to the Kiev thief, and the money doesn’t have to be paid back, because in Brussels’ imbecile logic, it’s Russia who’s going to foot the bill. Enjoy getting played again, Europeans — that’s €90 billion out of your pockets!

If Zelenskyy is warning us that Russia might attack the Baltics, I think he probably has a pretty good reason. As a Balt, I am surprised that many of us are treating Zelenskyy’s warning with contempt, while I myself understand where he is coming from. Some accuse Zelenskyy of spreading narratives that help Russia. Well, I very much doubt he is trying to help Russia, and I don’t think he would take that risk lightly. Some say he is pushing a fake scare story to focus the West’s attention on supporting Ukraine. But Ukraine has been deprived of that support for a long time, and has unfortunately learnt to live without it. I don’t think he is playing games. I find it more likely that he is offering his honest analysis to his friends. Anybody feeling instinctive anger whenever the issue of a possible Russian attack against a Baltic State is raised should have a think about these three questions: 1. Are we sure Putin has no good reasons to attack NATO? He only needs one, and it doesn’t need to be as ambitious as a full invasion and annexation. He might be thinking that a small incursion could fracture our alliance and reboot his popularity at home by providing a win for his war machine. He could use his reserves or divert some troops from Ukraine, which he sees is a much harder nut to crack than the Baltics. Are we certain that he isn’t even tempted to try? 2. If not the Baltics, then where? Even though the Baltic States have raised defence spending as a percentage of GDP to the highest levels in NATO, we remain vulnerable while the effect of that boost comes online. We have no conscription like the Finns, the German brigade won’t be here for at least a year, our militaries are less developed than other potential NATO targets, so why wouldn’t Putin choose us? 3. And are we 100% certain that Article 5 is still deterring Russia as much as it used to? Even if we still believe in the “ironclad commitment” of our allies, any expert would have to admit that some of our main allies are somewhat distracted right now while others have only recently started rebuilding their militaries. Should Putin wait until Europe gets stronger? Or until US attention returns to Europe? Zelenskyy has good reason to doubt that the West would suddenly experience a surge of bravery if a second country in the East were attacked now, NATO member or not. So I’m sorry, but this is why I see where Zelenskyy is coming from. The Baltics could be the target, Putin might be tempted, and our allies are currently in a tough spot. The window of opportunity is open. My suggestion to my fellow Baltic statesmen is this: Instead of getting flustered, get ready. Prepare contingency plans, learn Ukrainian survival techniques fast, and think about how to quickly extend the Ukrainian defence umbrella over the Baltic Sea — if indeed the merde does hit the ventilator.

Thomas Fazi@battleforeurope

I’ve written for @compactmag about how the EU-NATO establishment once again attempted to weaponise the Russiagate narrative in Bulgaria’s Sunday elections — but failed. In the run-up to the vote, Bulgarian authorities and their EU partners followed the usual script that has become standard in every European election — especially in the presence on the ballot of a candidate critical of official stances on Ukraine, Russia, the EU or NATO — raising the alarm about alleged Russian interference in the electoral process. This included accusations that pro-Kremlin foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) outlets were pushing narratives designed to tilt the result in Radev’s favor. The pro-EU ruling parties even formally requested EU assistance to counter “foreign disinformation” by activating the Digital Services Act’s (DSA) rapid response system. The aim in these cases is two-fold: on the one hand, to justify the suppression of online speech through the DSA; but perhaps more importantly to pre-emptively delegitimise — and potentially overturn — an electoral outcome that yields the “wrong” result. This is what happened in November 2024, when Romanian presidential candidate Călin Georgescu’s first-round election victory was annulled by the Romanian Constitutional Court on grounds of Russian interference in the absence of any credible, publicly verifiable evidence. The target in Bulgaria’s cases was Rumen Radev — former president, outspoken critic of the EU-NATO strategy in Ukraine and advocate of closer ties with Russia — whose Progressive Bulgaria party was set to win the election. Before Sunday’s vote, Radev himself warned that his party’s anticipated victory might be compromised by “the Romanian model”. But the sheer scale of Radev’s victory makes a Romanian-style scenario unlikely: his party won one of the largest shares for a single party in Bulgaria’s democratic history, and enough for an absolute majority in the new parliament. Nevertheless, what we witnessed in the lead-up to this election was the latest iteration of a political template that has become a recurring feature of European electoral life. When a candidate inconvenient to Brussels appears likely to win, the apparatus of “disinformation” monitoring and “foreign interference” response is mobilised — not after the election, but before it, in ways that directly shape the information environment in which voters make their choices. The pattern is consistent enough to constitute a system. In Romania, Georgescu’s surprise first-round lead was met not with political competition but with institutional cancellation, backed by EU-level pressure and a media campaign that treated unverified intelligence assessments as established fact. In Hungary, ahead of last week’s elections, the Western political-media establishment saturated the information space with warnings about Kremlin meddling. In Slovakia, Robert Fico’s return to power in 2023 was accompanied by nearly identical warnings. In each case, the Russiagate framing served a dual function: to justify suppression of political content under the cover of “protecting democracy” and to delegitimise the result if the wrong candidate won.
