Americans… this is a good faith question. I’m not baiting or trolling. Why are you so scared of condos and walkable cities? Does not having to drive for your groceries freak you out? What about it makes you uncomfortable? Please be honest.

@JohnnyB_E93 @SGTWipper1Each In the Army maybe. In the Marine Corps, the V-22 replaced the medium lift CH-46, not the heavy lift CH-53E.

@SGTWipper1Each The Osprey was supposed to replace the Chinook! Military tech & engineers ought to leave well enough alone. Keep it simple! What’s worked a few decades ago still works! B52’s. A10’s The Deuce, Cobras, Hueys the GRUNT…

The only reason this story blew up was because Christopher Hale lied when he posted that the “Vatican was so alarmed by the Pentagon’s tactics that Pope Leo XIV shelved plans to visit the United States later this year”, and that “Many in the Vatican saw the Pentagon’s reference to an Avignon papacy as a threat to use military force against the Holy See.” Both complete fabrications. Weird that this is completely missing from this piece.

NEW from @AlejaCorazonHM and myself: In which we attempt to wade through the drama over reports of the Pentagon-Vatican meeting from January, which has triggered a flurry of statements and denials that, notably, do not *uniformly* dispute major claims. religionnews.com/2026/04/10/unu…

@RightRambler @TRHLofficial I believe "remission" refers to the temporal punishment for sin of the saved, after their deaths, in purgatory i.e. an indulgence. Fighting in the crusades was seen as a kind of penance in this world

According to the Catholic Church it did. “All who die by the way, whether by land or by sea, or in battle against the pagans, shall have immediate remission of sins.” Spoken as authoritative teaching by Pope Urban the II and later formalized through papal bull “Quantum Praedecessores” under Pope Eugenius III.

The comments are citing the Crusades, which the Christians lost, and the Old Testament. The Son of Man fulfilled the Old Testament. Jesus met those terms. Christians abide by the New and Everlasting testament where throughout His ministry, Jesus consistently emphasized peace.
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.

Just spoke with a manager of a restaurant in NYC. She said that since the ICE raids began 100 employees have stopped coming in to work (~30% of their staff.) She said they are hiring ppl without experience to backfill. Thoughts?

This is the problem with the Catholic Church…. They tell us to follow the infallible Vicar of Christ that tells us fighting a war will absolve you of sin in one century and then tells you fighting any war is evil in another. The kind of mental gymnastics that go into following this office is beyond me.

From a Catholic perspective, part of the remedy for mass migration is not to create the conditions of war and disorder that force people to flee their homelands.

The #1 reason Catholics leave Rome? The Bible. When you compare the teachings of Rome with the plain text of Scripture, you might start to wonder which book Rome was reading.

In the early Church, Christians couldn't eat meat on any Friday of the year, even when Christmas fell on a Friday. Pope Saint Gregory the Great changed that around the year 600. Obviously, you're not bound to that, but I do find it funny how many modernists erroneously believe the early Church lived charismatically without rules. The fact is most Catholics today couldn't live a week under the rules that bound the early Church.

Question: Why is marriage or sometimes holy orders the only sacrament that we celebrate with a giant party and invite everyone we know to? Why don't we do this with baptism and confirmation? They are both once in a lifetime sacraments too.

@VadeadIesum 83% of Catholics fail to attend Mass every Sunday, but you have decided to criticize those who are there instead of educating those committing grave sin. Interesting.

@Joseph_Spurgeon If every person is qualified to interpret the Bible for him/herself, why do protestants have sermons? Why not just read scripture and move on?

Roman Catholics are always telling me sola scriptura is not in the Bible. That is cute. I thought you people were not supposed to interpret the Bible for yourselves. I thought that was the whole speech. The ordinary Christian cannot rightly understand Scripture. The individual believer is not authorized to settle doctrine. You need the church. You need the magisterium. You need Rome. And yet, somehow, every Roman Catholic on the internet becomes a one man magisterium the second he wants to tell a Protestant what the Bible “really says.” So here is my new rule: I do not take Bible lessons from people who insist they are not competent or authorized to give them.
