Last week I visited the NIDA Intramural Research Program in Baltimore to see firsthand the cutting-edge clinical trials and addiction research shaping the future of overdose prevention and treatment. Addressing the overdose crisis requires a strong commitment to evidence-based public health strategies and scientific innovation. NIDA’s Intramural Research Program is leading the way by bridging the gap between laboratory research and community-level care. It was great to have leadership from @MDHealthDept and @StopOverdoseMD join us as we continue our whole of government approach to saving lives in Maryland.

The workgroups are focusing on issues such as housing, supporting youth and families, and evaluating the state’s substance use disorder and overdose-related programs. The findings from their work will be summarized in the MORAC's annual report later this year. #StopOverdoseMD

Yesterday, the Maryland Overdose Response Advisory Council, chaired by @LtGovMiller, held its second meeting of 2026! This meeting featured briefings from workgroups that were established last year to study specific areas in the state's efforts to reduce overdoses. 🧵(1/2)

Yesterday, we had the honor of visiting the HOFFA Foundation in Sykesville! In addition to touring their men's recovery home, we heard about their amazing efforts to provide transportation assistance to Marylanders across the state accessing substance use care. (1/2)
