Fraud is sadly rampant and anyone logical is going to start asking the same question- If someone is financially benefitting, how could they not find more problems? this is the Incentive Alignment Paradox- nobody is paid to keep us healthy, or safe or smart. Apply to: education, pediatrics, pharma, etc. Weaponizing diagnosis.

I had this idea… “what if autism diagnoses are partially from fraudulent billing?” And then poked around a bit. And … turns out that the whole “1 in 30” statistic isn’t based on official diagnoses; ADDM has clinicians review school records and if the record fits then it counts as autism even if there’s no medical diagnosis. Then that statistic is quoted to justify increased ABA centers, increased research, all kinds of grants. I’m questioning literally everything now.

I’m (still) the only candidate in this race who is neither a billionaire nor taking corporate PAC money. Our campaign is powered by tens of thousands of Californians. That’s who the next governor should be focused on—not themselves, not their donors, not any insiders.

🚨 “Ban Nick Shirley Bill” — AB 2624 A government that moves to limit transparency is a government that has something to hide. AB 2624: the “Ban Nick Shirley Bill” raises serious concerns about the future of investigative journalism in California. This bill would expand restrictions around recording and documenting inside certain facilities, including organizations that receive government funding. In practice, that means journalists and independent investigators could face legal penalties simply for documenting what’s happening inside taxpayer-funded operations. Think about that. The very people trying to expose fraud, abuse, or mismanagement could be the ones punished. This bill is backed by CHIRLA—an organization that has received millions in taxpayer funding over the years while also taking strong and often controversial positions on immigration policy and enforcement. Now the same ecosystem benefiting from public dollars is supporting legislation that could limit scrutiny and reduce transparency. Californians deserve the opposite. If taxpayer money is being spent, the public has a right to know how it’s being used. Journalists should be protected for exposing the truth—not threatened with penalties. Transparency isn’t optional

JUST IN: California Democrats are pushing through a bill called the “Stop Nick Shirley Act” which would make investigative journalism a crime. This bill would protect and welcome fraudulent businesses like the Quality “Learing” Center in the state of California. - Misdemeanor - $10,000 fines - Content removal - Imprisonment Insane. They know their crimes are coming to light so they are doing everything in their power to restrict that. Keep pushing @nickshirleyy

I am suspending my campaign for Governor. To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s.

Nickel-63 nuclear battery claims 100-year ultra-low power life | Neetika Walter, Interesting Engineering NRD introduces a solid-state nuclear battery designed to power sensors and devices for over 100 years. A U.S.-based nuclear materials firm has unveiled a solid-state battery it claims can deliver continuous power for more than a century without maintenance. The device targets ultra-low power electronics operating in remote or hard-to-service environments. NRD LLC said its NBV series uses a betavoltaic design powered by Nickel-63 to generate electricity through radioactive decay. The system is sealed in a solid-state architecture and is designed for applications where replacing or recharging batteries is not practical. Betavoltaic devices convert energy released during beta decay into electrical current. Unlike conventional batteries, they rely on a continuous decay process, allowing them to operate for extended periods, though at extremely low power levels. According to the company, the NBV series is designed to support electronics that require steady, long-term energy supply, particularly in environments where access is limited or maintenance is costly. Power from radioactive decay NRD claims the battery can deliver power outputs ranging from 5 nanowatts to 500 nanowatts. The device operates within a voltage range of 1.0 V to 20.0 V and a nominal current between 7.5 nA and 33 nA, all within a compact 20 mm by 20 mm by 12 mm form factor. These specifications place the device firmly in the ultra-low-power category, making it suitable for sensors, data logging systems, and monitoring equipment that require continuous but minimal energy input. “Simply stated, critical mission sets collapse if a component, such as a battery, within the power matrix is compromised or fails,” said Shel Alfiero, Chief Executive Officer. “NRD’s NBV series is a high-integrity, maintenance-free micro power solution for applications that demand protracted reliability and consistent power in exacting and hostile environments, where battery replacement is not a realistic option.” The company says the system is intended for use in industrial monitoring, environmental sensing, and security systems, as well as in AI-enabled autonomous platforms that require constant low-level power to maintain system states. Designed for long durations The battery is also positioned for use in remote deployments, including infrastructure monitoring and long-duration health tracking systems, where servicing is difficult or impossible. “This launch is a milestone as NRD translates decades of regulated nuclear materials expertise into next-generation power solutions,” said Kevin Heffler, Chief Operations Officer. “NRD is a licensed manufacturer with six in-house radiological laboratories and a dedicated, mature Health Physics Department and a robust radiation safety program, built to support scalable production and long-term customer programs.” While the company highlights its experience in producing radioisotope-based products, including components for smoke detectors, it has not disclosed details about large-scale deployment timelines or commercial availability. The long operational life claimed for the device depends on the half-life of Nickel-63, but real-world performance will depend on efficiency, shielding, and integration constraints, which have not been independently verified. interestingengineering.com/energy/nrd-nuc…

This isn’t a novel observation, but being a dad of a now-13 month old son and observing other parents makes you feel it viscerally: We as a modern society have no idea to raise young boys into men today. The past 30 years of treating them as maladaptive or overactive girls was a complete disaster as everyone is increasingly aware of. Gender-neutral is also a farce from a biological and cultural perspective. Some will say the solution is to go super traditional, but honestly that feels like a bit of LARP if you live in the city or suburbs or want your kid to integrate eventually. We also live in a society with other people - monthly hunting or camping trips or whatever other “trad” activities you try to do doesn’t overcome the socialization from everyone surrounding them or online. All high-income jobs involve the mind, not your hands (TBD if true in a post-AI world.) Churches, schools, clubs, etc. seem to have no answers. What does it even mean to be a man in today’s world that is radically different than anything else in all of human history? Without answering that question, it seems impossible to even start with the question of how to raise a boy. I honestly don’t have any answers, but just pondering out loud because clearly no one really has a clue right now.
