@StrawmanArgs

I am a strawman who makes strawman arguments. Look at me with a magnifying glass and my whole argument burns away!

@curry_boz Buddhism is typically seen as a neutral "spiritual" system. It's viewed with a curious eye because it's very different than "normal" (for Americans) Abrahamic religions. Buddhists typically don't try to enforce their beliefs on people, so nobody really has a problem with it.

@groove_sdc Historically white male racism was a huge "political" factor in hiring decisions. This is no longer the case though. Now DEI (aka anti-white male racisim) is a huge "political" factor in hiring decisions. We should remove as much politics from hiring decisions as possible.

Longtime Black Man Here
No DEI was introduced because the history of white employers is they will never hire qualified Black, people of color, the disabled or the LGBTQIA community unless you force them to. They prefer unqualified white people particularly white men.
Nirwan@Nirwan_Sinha

@groove_sdc So you agree DEI was introduced to hire people who do not deserve to be hired in the first place, based on race not abilities.

@nyaraVT If it's "your" housing, then a landlord can't steal it, only the Government can. If its your money, then billionaries can't steal it, only the Government can. If socialism is going to work in the real world, you need to solve for the corruption issue when politicians run things.

“Socialism” doesn’t steal your housing, landlords do “Socialism” doesn’t steal your hard-earned money, billionaires do Anytime people complain about “what socialism might do”, they’re just describing capitalism and the ultra-wealthy..

@peterboghossian Extra legal violence is the inevitable result of a Judicial system failing and not serving deserved justice.

Many right leaning accounts are now openly advocating vigilante justice and denial of trials for suspects who commit heinous crimes. While the urge for vengeance is understandable, extra legal violence has no role in civil society.
Will Tanner@Will_Tanner_1

He should get a medal, and a battle axe with which to finish the job Or at least he would in a justice oriented society But the West is ruled by communists who revel in anarchotyranny, so the citizen will be punished by the state for defending his daughter and the migrant criminal who abused a little girl will face no consequences

@xevekiah This is already true. It's called "child support" where if a man abandon's their child, they have to pay for a woman to buy the man's economic value's worth of help

@JamesSurowiecki Because you are only looking at the past 5 years. Tesla made early shareholders a ton of money by mooning, splitting, mooning again, and splitting again. I will never sell my remaining shares even if it goes to 0, because i've already made my initial investment back several times

The persistence of the cult of Tesla stockholders is odd. Over the past 5 years, Tesla is up 63%. The S&P 500 is also up 63%, but its total return is 71% with dividends. So Tesla has underperformed the market as a whole, with a lot more volatility. Why the unblinking faith?

@PotatoMcWhiskey That's the point and goal. But pretty much every institution/person makes personnel decisions based on 3 things Merit Likability Politics DEI programs in practice gives a HUGE political card to "marginalized" groups to force their way in, regardless of the other 2 factors

The entire point of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is that people with merit were overlooked because of their marginalized identity. Its about providing opportunity to talented people who would normally be sidelined. Being anti-DEI is literally virtue signalling and anti-merit.
Rock Solid@ShitpostRock2

But this is objectively true, DEI puts merit last and virtue signaling first, which ends up undermining real performance and talent

It does piss me off that GenZ went Republican for the worst 4 months they could have chosen to do that, but it is nice knowing that the Republican brand has been destroyed both for Millennials and GenZ, now Only we reprobate and degenerate GenXers like republicans.

@LisaMacRichards @inkfycreates I visited her 5-6 days a week until she took a turn for the worst, then I was there every day. All of those points plus the fact I worked full time are what I told myself at the time for why I "couldn't" take care of her. I should have done it anyways and paid someone to help.

The only people who say this are those who are fortunate to have easy parents to care for. They have no major health issues or mental problems that who impede care. Dementia completely destroys that perception once you face reality. Lol
Sarah@GlobeFarrah

Every time I see the "you're a terrible person if you put your parents in the nursing home" discourse I crash out bc it's one of those things that you literally don't know wtf you're talking about unless you've been in that position yourself.

@saikatc The problem is that Democrat funded daycare is rife with fraud. Instead of forcefully pushing against the fraud, they call people names for pointing it out.

It is so obvious what Dems should run on. Vote Republican if you want endless war. Vote Democrat if you want daycare. But to do that, Dems must commit to slashing the defense budget. Unfortunately, half the current Dem party won't do it. That's why we need to change the party.
FactPost@factpostnews

Trump: We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.
