People are familiar with manipulating the angle of release. Auston Matthews, Connor Bedard. Michkov does a bit of that, but mostly does something else. He manipulates the timing of his release. Which is only useful because he's actually reading the goalie's timing of him.

Michkov's ability to shoot from bizarre platforms has to wreak havoc on goalies. He could shoot from this platform here. He doesn't. He shuffles and looks like he's ready to shoot with the new lead foot. But the puck is ALREADY RELEASED by the time his skate digs in to ice.

On this play, quick adjustment by Jiricek who was about to hand it off. But defender for Prov got aggressive trying to anticipate. So Jiricek kept it himself knowing the lane opened for him. Snapped it upstairs using the d-man reach as a screen. Yeah, he's good.

Jiricek is extremely good with the puck. Basically everything the current PHI defense core lacks. And it's a real difference maker if you simply accept the occasional headache he'll give you.

Absolutely wicked hesitation and drag here from Jiricek. Plus the shot placement? Superb play. He’s been lights out.

Watching him make a crazy aggressive read that leads to an embarrassing chance or sometimes goal against.

Assuming you mean in terms of raw goals against in all situations: Ottawa: 14th Toronto: 31st Philadelphia: 15th Vegas: 20th Boston: 22nd So, one could argue more of a correlation exists between winning defensive zone faceoffs and allowing goals rather than preventing them
