🎉 We’re excited to share some brilliant news! 🎉 @SupportingCIO has been successful in securing Million Hours Fund, Round 3 funding, enabling us to expand youth opportunities across Derbyshire and reach even more young people who need positive, safe spaces and trusted support. This funding is a vital part of our ongoing work to support young people, reduce anti-social behaviour, and provide essential services where they’re needed most. Through additional youth work hours, we’ll be creating more places to go, more positive activities, and more consistent support for young people living in eligible Derbyshire communities. The Million Hours Fund supports organisations working in areas with higher levels of anti-social behaviour and is now in its third phase. It is funded by the @DCMS and @TNLComFund, helping ensure young people have access to the guidance, opportunities, and safe spaces they deserve. We’re incredibly proud of the impact this funding will have and grateful to everyone who continues to support our work. This investment allows us to build on what we already know works, early intervention, trusted relationships, and youth-led support. 💛 Warm & Welcoming Spaces at Ironville Youth Club 💛 We’re really pleased to share that, thanks to funding from Derbyshire Voluntary Action, our youth sessions in Ironville will continue over the winter months, helping us cover rising energy and running costs and keep our doors open for longer for local young people. This funding forms part of the Derbyshire Warm and Welcoming Spaces initiative, supported by Derbyshire County Council, following the success of last winter’s scheme. The programme recognises that many families and vulnerable residents are facing increasing challenges in heating their homes, which can have a real impact on both physical and mental health. As a Warm and Welcoming Space, our Ironville sessions offer a free, safe and warm place for young people to spend time, stay connected, take part in positive activities, and feel supported throughout the colder months. Safe Places McDonald's Through our partnership, @SupportingCIO works at eight McDonald’s sites across Derbyshire, supporting our youth provision by providing safe, accessible spaces for youth support sessions, helping young people feel safe, supported and welcomed in their local communities. Safe Places is a network of venues across Derby City where women, girls, vulnerable adults and young people can seek help if they feel unsafe while away from home. The initiative forms part of the Safe Derby campaign, backed by Home Office Safer Streets funding secured through the Office of the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner, and delivered in partnership with Derby City Council, Safe and Sound Group, Derby Youth Alliance, and other voluntary and charity organisations. Join Our Trustee Board! @SupportingCIO is seeking new Trustees to join our Board, with specific expertise in Legal, Safeguarding, and Communications / Marketing. We are a Derby-based charity working with at-risk young people, families, and communities, guided by a strong belief that early intervention is prevention. Our work focuses on building resilience, improving well-being, and creating positive opportunities for those who need them most. We’re looking for individuals who can help: - Strengthen governance, compliance, and risk management (Legal) - Provide oversight and assurance around safeguarding practice (Safeguarding) - Support our voice, visibility, and impact through effective communications (Comms/Marketing) You don’t need previous trustee experience; we welcome both professional expertise and lived experience. Trustees provide strategic guidance, support good governance, and act as a critical friend to the leadership team. Board meetings are held quarterly, with opportunities to contribute in line with your skills. The role is voluntary (reasonable expenses covered). Recently, Nicolle attended the Blue Light Emergency Services Day event held at Ilkeston Market Place to mark the end of Derbyshire’s week-long knife crime intensification initiative Op Sceptre. ✅ Officers from Ilkeston Police SNT and the Constabulary’s dedicated Youth Engagement Team were joined by colleagues from across policing including the Roads Policing Unit, Rural Crime Team, Dog Section, and Police Bike Team. 🚓 Partners from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, East Midlands Ambulance Service, Blood Bikes, and First Responders also took part, alongside the Supporting Communities mobile youth bus offering interactive activities, including rolling out virtual reality headsets to interact with young people. 🎮 It was an opportunity for Nicolle to meet with lots of key emergency service partners that serve our communities, who work tirelessly to keep communities safe. 🤝 Thank you to all the residents who turned out and showed fantastic community spirit by engaging with our partners and enjoying a day that brought everyone together. 👏 #SaferAndStrongerTogether #DeliveringForDerbyshire #DerbyshireOPCC

This innovative programme gives young people the chance to explore the real-life consequences of carrying knives through interactive, scenario-based learning.
