Rearranged my Kollection a bit. I think y'all can tell I'm a tad bit of a MK, TMNT, Quake/Doom, & RE fan. Love how it's turning out and I'll be getting more stuff along the months

"It's the same price but BIGGER!" Is it the same size? It's built small for a reason. "No." Does it have the same cooling factor? Steam Machine is like 70% cooling system by volume. "No." Is it as quiet? When I benchmarked it it was whisper silent, which is a nice thing to have. "No." Is it tailored for SteamOS? Valve is likely going to be targeting improvements for that hardware. "No." Did you include the quad antenna setup with a dedicated one for Steam Controller? "No." Is it as power efficient? The GabeCube draws very little power. "No." ......... does it at least have more IO? "No." So you built a PC for the same price that sacrifices every design advantage and are crowing that it's stronger, despite knowing that many of the choices for those advantages are what lead to a weaker system in the first place? ".... yes?" I swear to God, I will never understand how someone as purportedly smart as the grand L holder there still has industry ties when he does things that are this disingenuous and stupid to major (and minor) brands on the regular.

I thought I responded, but idk what happened but I do want this out here. I don't hate consoles, what I hate is the lie that the "value" is better on consoles when that is not true. The reason why consoles are cheaper upfront is because they sell subscriptions and higher priced games in the long run and the deals on games are absolutely not better than Steam's. There's a reason why there's so many jokes about Steam sales and Steam backlogs. The other thing is that the PS5 refuses to support older Playstation consoles like 1, 2, and 3 unless specifically ported, when a lot of those same games I wanted to play are on Steam, gets sales, and I can play an entire franchise's saga on one machine. If it's console exclusive, emulators are really catching up on the Steam Deck and it'll only get better with the Steam Machine. I do get that the Steam Machine is more expensive upfront, but for performance, there's sites like ProtonDB that can help get better performance. With non Linux games, dual booting is an option and works great on my Steam Deck. I own a console (and I bet most of the people complaining about this point does to) so I'm not mad that it doesn't include the Steam Controller. I mainly play Playstation because I believe platinums are better than Steam and Xbox achievements. When the PS3/Vita servers goes down, I'll just play on Steam and play any new exclusive PS5/6 releases on the console and that be that. No subscriptions, nothing because at the end of the day, PC will be more convient and cheaper.

You can do that while spending $120/$80 a year for online play and cloud storage, $200 for an extra TB of storage, be locked to 1 storefront that will impliment dynamic pricing based on how much you spend on the store, can't play PS1/2/3 games, and can only use the PS5 controller unless you buy a Brook adapter. Wow, such better and cheaper options...

You were responsive 40 minutes ago, what's your response to major fighting games like MK1, SF6, Tekken 8, and other games like Ark, DBD, Helldivers 2, Ready or Not, & Warframe needing PS+ to play online when they're the top MP games on the PSN store

How can you be so sure? We don't have a release date or price yet for the PS6 and this is the first generation where consoles have gone up instead of down in price. A new PS5 Pro is still $900 and I bet that most of the PS6 titles will be on PS5 like Ragnarok, Forbidden West, Miles, Gran Turismo 7, etc so why wait on the PS6? They said the same thing about the Steam Deck forgetting that Valve/Community actively works on features/spec sheets (ie ProtonDB) to help games run better on their machines.

People were complaining about the Steam Machine not coming with a controller, when I bet a majority of the people complaining themselves has a controller. Steam Input works very will with most modern controllers unlike consoles where you're stuck with that platform's controller. In terms of older games, most "classic" games are streamed only. Ratchet and Clank Collection, God of War 1 & 2, Silent Hill 1-3, Fallout New Vegas, Star Wars Force Unleashed, etc are all locked behind streaming which is the absolute worse option to play games. Nothing wrong with emulation when it actually works and provides more options than what the PS5 can do currently.

@SurvivedKombat Why would you use any other controller? Also, all the PS1/PS2/PS3 titles--with the exception of maybe Xenogears/saga--are available for dirt cheap on the PlayStation store. I mean you might as well just argue for emulation if you want to win this.

Hmmm let's go down the list of other games that require online, any major fighting games, Ark, Dead by Daylight, Helldivers 2, Ready or Not, all top multiplayer games on the PSN store so I know you're pulling that shit out of your ass. 3. Dumbasses don't realize you can dualboot Windows on the Steam Machine like you can with the Steam Deck to play games like Fortnite and Warzone. Looks like your arguments are out

@SurvivedKombat 1. You don't need online to play the most popular online games 2. If you needed online the only games you'd be missing are sports games, & COD. Which the steam machine can't even play (Linux yikes) 3. Fortenite is free, not even playable on steam machine 1/2 ur argument is out

They've been waiting on this game to sell their console for the past 3 years, honestly doesn't surprise me

Oh and on top of that, let's build a competitor PC that isn't the size of a tissue box or as convient as the Steam Machine

Why do people think Valve should subsidize a PC where you can just install any Linux distro or Windows on it and never use it for Steam. Hell, you can use default SteamOS and still just pirate or emulate games on it It's console-like. not a console where you can only use it to play their games. There is no guarantee that a user will ever buy Steam games cause it isn't locked to Steam

People mad at the price seem to really forget that this may be expensive up front, but if you already own an #Xbox or #PS5 controller, it will work for the SM. There is also no subscriptions, you can dual boot with Windows like the #SteamDeck, the #SteamMachine will do things that the PS5 doesn't even do (aka play PS1-3 games), and on top of that the amount of money you will save in the long run because the games on #Steam are so cheap. I get why people are pissed, but running to say "PS, Xbox, and Nintendo would neeeever" is being performative and downright stupid. You can be mad about the price, but don't like like the other 3 are any better, we haven't even seen the prices of the Helix or PS6 yet. Remember, PS5 now sells 1TB of storage for $380, just keep that in mind
