And it's not the flex to say the steam machine can run it either. Evercade can run retorarch comfortably and thats £100 My amazon fire tablet can run it. If you are using that as a reason to get it then thats a poor system. They lied about the 4k60 and have had to amend it and currently a 4 year old console out performs it. Its a poorly thought out and executed system thats over priced that will barely run anything In. A year or 2

If wasn't for AI ruining the market, the Gabecube would have been $700. People forget it can be used as a desktop with access to Steam, you can add emulators and unlike a PS5, you don't need to pay $130 a year for similar online functionality. And you already have a controller.

Linus Tech Tips believes the PS5 offers better value than the new Steam Machine at current prices. According to Linus, a $600 PS5 or $900 PS5 Pro is a better buy than a $1,049 Steam Machine, especially since both PlayStation consoles include a controller. “You can still buy a PS5 for $600 or a PS5 Pro for $900… and both include a controller.” — Linus Tech Tips

@clanka9000 @PlayPlatRepeat Question 1: What does "I can actually games from other gamers" mean? I don't speak retard. Question 2: Can you run RetroArch on a PS5? Also, all you console cucks know about Denuvo is that PC gamers hate it. It often gets removed after a while but it depends on the publisher.

@ingueferroque @M4D0GG0 Yet they didnt say that and have only recently changed that statement once called by the likes of Linus. It was advertised as 4k60 and so eas tested at 4k60 and as shown performed pathetically

@M4D0GG0 Agreed, at least add some nuance to it. Of course it can do 4K. Steam Deck can do 4K120! But not 2026 AAA games.

@PlayPlatRepeat Even if you want to go with the cheapest plan of $60, that's still money you're dumping into something yearly that you get for free with Steam. Also Sony has shown they can delete your library at any time along with dancing with the idea of timed DRM check ins. Not a great value.

Valve is selling a $1,349 machine the internet already prints for $247. Look at this guy. He just fired up a 3D printer and watched it lay down the entire Steam Machine shell, layer by layer, in his room. No factory. No supply chain. No release date. Just a spool of plastic and a printer humming on his desk. It cost him $247. Meanwhile Valve spent months engineering this thing, building the hype, planning the June 29 launch. And they're charging the community $1,049 to $1,349 for it. No subsidy. Pure PC margins. One of them took a print file and a weekend. The other took a corporation. Same box. Same idea. One costs a quarter of the price, and it's sitting on his desk right now.
Dexerto@Dexerto

The Steam Machine will go on sale on June 29 with two models: - 512GB model for $1,049 - 2TB model for $1,349

Linus took this from the perspective of John Gamer who plays the latest release but tbh most people just wanna play the games they have or older ones. Now did the RAM shortage screw Valve? Yes it did. I wouldn't touch Sony with a barge pole. The fact they released the OS tho 😁

@Monty_Hasashi 600 for ps5. Ps plus just for online is 60 a year. So would be 10 years of ps plus and you are still a couple of hundred short of the price of the steam machine

Has he considered the PS Plus subscriptions? Those DO add up to the price you know. Does the PS5 have more games than a literal gaming PC? Fuck no. The PS5 has no games. And the few games it has are just PS4 games lightly remastered for it. Fuck Linus.

A console that I need to pay online for monthly/yearly BARELY has sales and has games locked behind console exclusivity OR Amazing sales, access to my 300+ game library that has games that have been released on Xbox and PlayStation, free online multiplayer, oh did I mention MODS. LASTLY a customer support team that will move heaven or earth for you. Honestly the people buying this probably already have a PC but maybe want to game in the living room or maybe take your steam library on the go outside of a steam deck. The only people running hit pieces on this probably are hardcore console enthusiasts or fools like Tim Sweeny that wanna make valve look bad.

The people who hyped up the PS5s power is laughing at the steam machine and calling it weak. They perform roughly the same by the way. Do with this info what you must

You can do that while spending $120/$80 a year for online play and cloud storage, $200 for an extra TB of storage, be locked to 1 storefront that will impliment dynamic pricing based on how much you spend on the store, can't play PS1/2/3 games, and can only use the PS5 controller unless you buy a Brook adapter. Wow, such better and cheaper options...

1. Yes you do, that's a provable dumbass take 2. Hmmm let's go down the list of other games that require online, any major fighting games, Ark, Dead by Daylight, Helldivers 2, Ready or Not, all top multiplayer games on the PSN store so I know you're pulling that shit out of your ass. 3. Dumbasses don't realize you can dualboot Windows on the Steam Machine like you can with the Steam Deck to play games like Fortnite and Warzone. Looks like your arguments are out

@Yoshimorito @HeyItsExi If it's like the Steam Deck, you just go into desktop mode, open your browser, and do all the normal PC setup to get those on your Steam Machine. The only thing that might set you back is since it's linux, you might have to run the it through Steam to set a compatability layer.

PS5; selling you a console at a loss for the express purpose of trapping you in their ecosystem with a subscription service for online use GabeCube; sold near cost, no ecosystem lock in, no subscription fees, ENTRY level plug and play pc with a custom gaming focused Linux OS

@NikolotoBg @JimbobEhr678 @HeyItsExi Yes if you then tske the time to remove steam os and replace worh windows or do a dual boot. Not exactly plug and play. Steam machine like the steam deck is sold out of the box as an inclined system. Ergo steams ecosystem. Its the same thing just a different name

@CatsuneMikuFan Not really. If you can find a ps5 with a 6xxx or under firmware you can now boot Linux on it which means steam OS which means a steam machine cheaper and more powerful than the real thing

I dont think you understand what consumer ownership and Intellectual Property means I dont own the game, the developers do. But I do own the product I purchased which includes the game. Just because I cant pirate it does not take that away I have over 2000 games on shelves that I own and can play at any point I want. Digital game thats not the case

@PlayPlatRepeat @JayHooft @mns3625 Because you couldn't take said game and make copies of it and sell it. Like people used to do with VHS tapes. Gaming and other forms of media have gone digital mostly due to money loss on the secondary market, and via illegal torrenting.
