@Jacqui_Smith1 Sector packages - will do little for the 17% of population with no qualifications or the 8.5 million lacking digital skills. Disjointed ideas do not make a skills strategy or change the dial on adults attitude to retraining. We need to LL strategy that is about supporting people

Without the investment in adult skills our industrial strategy will be compromised from the start and the benefits bill will increase faster than our economic growth. It’s not all about higher level skills

Disappointed the Skills chapter in today’s IS still lacks real incentives for adult learners. Funding favours the already-qualified, backs courses with poor outcomes, and shifts costs from employers to taxpayers. We need a proper Post-16 Skills Strategy. gov.uk/government/col…
