HM Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden, was born on 30 April, 1946. Today, he celebrates his 80th birthday. King Carl XVI Gustaf was 27 when he succeeded his grandfather Gustaf VI Adolf on the throne on 15 September 1973. He is the longest reigning monarch in Swedish history. Congratulations, Your Majesty!

A very productive discussion with ambassadors of Sweden, Signe Burgstaller, and Ukraine, Andrii Plakhotniuk, on further support for Ukraine. At the initiative of Canada, Lithuania, Sweden, and Ukraine, the Ukraine Transport Support Fund was established in February to support the restoration of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure. #Lithuania #Canada #Sweden #Ukraine

While in #Whitehorse for #AWG2026, my Nordic colleagues and I also had meetings with @yukongov, Premier Dixon and Cabinet ministers, Speaker of the Yukon Parliament, the Mayor of Whitehorse, and the Grand Chief of the Council of Yukon First Nations. Thank you for good discussions!

The #ArcticWinterGames2026 in #Whitehorse, the Yukon have begun! Attended the Opening Ceremony last night with my Nordic colleagues. More than 2000 participants from the Circumpolar North, including from Sápmi. A great celebration of northern sports, cultures and traditions!

Today at @CDAInstitute #OttawaConference, a fireside chat with @FuhrMP on reforms in defence procurement. In a roundtable, 🇸🇪 MGen Lindfors, 🇩🇰 MGen Boysen and 🇨🇦@Army_Comd_Armee LtGen Wright discussed close cooperation among Allied Land Forces, including in NATO MNB in Latvia.

Great discussions @CDAInstitute #OttawaConference with keynote address by @AnitaAnandMP. Swedish State Secretary for Civil Defence Johan Berggren participated in roundtable on Whole-of-Society approach to defence with perspectives and experiences from 🇸🇪, 🇫🇮 and 🇱🇹.

Participated this afternoon in a commemorative event at Parliament Hill - marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine - to honour the victims of this war and reaffirm our solidarity with Ukraine. 🇺🇦 #StandWithUkraine

On 18 February 2026, on the eve of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada @a_plakhotniuk, together with his counterparts - Ambassador of @EUinCanada Geneviève Tuts @EUAmbCanada and Ambassador of @CyprusinCanada Stavros Hatziyiannis, сo-hosted the 12th meeting of the Friends of Ukraine Group in Ottawa. The meeting brought together Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Ottawa from more than 60 countries, and we were particularly honoured to welcome Alexandre Lévesque from @CanadaFP. Discussions focused on coordinated efforts to advance a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, strengthen military assistance and air defence, protect critical energy infrastructure, and expand defence cooperation, including through mechanisms such as PURL, SAFE, the Czech initiative and the Danish Model. Participants also addressed the need to further tighten sanctions pressure on Russia. Particular attention was given to ensuring Russia’s accountability for the crime of aggression and war crimes, as well as supporting the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children and @BringKidsBackUA initiatives. We sincerely thank all partners and participants for their continued solidarity and steadfast support for Ukraine. #StrongerTogether 📸 @EUinCanada
