Rich. The US passed a law forcing ByteDance to either sell TikTok’s US operations to a buyer approved by the US government or face a ban. TikTok is now 80% owned by an American. I'm sure it was "very difficult" for them to do so, but there's them apples.

‘Very Difficult for Corporations to Surrender 30% Ownership’—US Ambassador Criticizes South Africa's 30% Black Ownership Rule Saying It's Blocking Billions in Investment US Ambassador to South Africa L. Brent Bozell III has said the United States wants to invest billions in the country but faces a major hurdle with policies requiring businesses to surrender 30% ownership to black South Africans. He raised the issue when he was speaking to journalists in Pretoria while acknowledging the nation's history of inequality. Bozell spoke at a business event in Hermanus. He stated that the United States is ready to pour money into investments, with both the private sector and government involved. "It's very difficult for...a major corporation to come here and be told it has to surrender 30% of its ownership, or some such thing," he said. He added that corporations have a moral duty to invest in South Africa's future beyond capital. In response to a journalist's question about respecting South Africa's sovereignty and laws, Bozell replied that the United States does not question South Africa's right to set its own policies. However, he noted that America will speak up when policies affect its national interests or security concerns. Bozell stressed that the primary issue is respect for private property rights. He recognized South Africa's emergence from an unequal system but maintained that forced ownership transfers create barriers to large-scale investment from US companies. The comments highlight ongoing tensions in bilateral relations.

@MarioNawfal He deserves no praise whatsoever. He caused unecessary death and destruction, then ran away when his options for a win were destroyed by Iran. He must answer for his war crimes

For everyone who criticized Trump for this war (for good reason), you should praise him for making the decision to walk away Walking away in such circumstances is not easy whatsoever, and many other leaders may have gotten themselves bogged down in another forever war

@EmbassyofRussia Disappointing from Russia. US-Israel should immediately cease their agrression and meet all of Iran's demands which are fair, reasonable and in line with international law. Thought you were on board with this?

@AfricanFuture26 @SamanthaTaghoy Agreed. So the initial post is an accurate summary. And if you follow the logic all the way through and you factor in all the nature required to produce goods, then end up charging consumers for oxygen

@Szietar @SamanthaTaghoy Yes. Consumers are not paying the true cost of these goods, so there is no market signal for them to conserve those resources. The alternative is that those resources get depleted in a few decades.

“Water, soil, and oxygen should not be infinitely accessible. They are assets that should be included in global economic balance sheets.” This is not satire. The World Economic Forum wants to monetise breathing.

@AfricanFuture26 @SamanthaTaghoy Not so much as a misquote than a paraphrase cos wouldn't bringing nature into balance sheets simply result in consumers having to pay for that nature?

@SamanthaTaghoy You misquoted her. All she is talking about is how companies need to stop extracting natural resources as if they are unlimited (and depleting them) and factor in the costs of using them in their accounting. It's the opposite of what you seem to think she is saying.

Patriots, we have successfully located this idiot. Soon we will pay him a special visit. All the people who sold these houses should bring title deeds to claim them back for free. Apparently he sells drugs and managed to purchase these RDPs with drug proceeds, each at R9,500 = 776,876.09 Naira.

@Underwata_demon @VokunSun @xevekiah Nobody is arguing that the legal process is exclusive to rape. But if you want to compare the experiences, rape victims are more likely to have their sexual morality questioned, as if what they do/who they are can justify the rape. Murder victims' families don't go through that

@Szietar @VokunSun @xevekiah Even people with murdered family members (kids, spouses, siblings) still go through the same process to persecute the accused perpetrators… it’s not exclusive to rapee the moment the law bends to favor one side of the coin, it can be weaponized by that same side of the coin

“I don’t understand why women don’t just report it if it really happened.” When I was 19, I reported mine. I had bruises. Hospital photos. Text messages of him apologizing the next morning. My friends drove me to the station because I could barely stop shaking. I thought evidence would make it simple. I thought truth would be enough. Months later, I was the one on trial. His lawyer printed my Instagram photos and held them up in court. Asked why I wore crop tops. Asked why I drank that night. Asked why I didn’t scream louder. He replayed my police interview and pointed out every time I hesitated, every time I cried, every time my timeline wasn’t perfectly linear. “If it was traumatic,” he said, “why can’t she remember clearly?” Sitting there while strangers debated my pain like it was a group project felt like being stripped again. My messages were projected on a screen. My body was described in detail. My character was picked apart like that was the real crime. He walked out on bail. I walked out with panic attacks. That’s why some women don’t report. Because even with bruises. Even with screenshots. Even when you do everything “right.” You still have to survive the assault twice, once in private, and once in public, just to maybe be believed.
