I know some Republicans in Harrisburg are trying to score political points by claiming that my budget would raise taxes. But just because they say it, doesn’t make it true. My budget continues to cut taxes for seniors, families, and small businesses — and includes zero broad-based tax increases.

Can't thank @JustinWWells enough. What an incredible experience last night. Totally unplugged and captivating. There's not many doing it the way he does. It's a memory I'll hold dear.

“So you see, while obviously the artwork on Cole Chaneys new record is a nod to the agates and cavernous mountains of Kentucky, when the image is rotated, his portrait is revealed and the work becomes more of a testament to how his homeland has become a part of him. They are one and the same…” Wife: “I’m leaving you.”

I deactivated my account for 3 weeks. I didn’t announce I was doing it because, well, I didn’t think it was a big deal but it stirred up some heated debates a few weeks ago. I saw some of the hateful comments. I’m going to clear up a few things, then get back to what I do. For the last two years, I’ve shared music I like, love or find interesting. If it doesn’t fit one of those, I don’t share it. It is not my place to judge a songwriter’s art as not good. It’s not what I want to do. I don’t do album ratings or play the role of the critic. Still, there were a few folks commenting on some posts about me with stuff like this, and I quote: “Brad likes to post his opinion on new music but wants to hear nothing about any opinions from his followers. He simply wants engagement and likes that confirm his personal opinion and give him validation.” I remember the day I muted this guy. I posted saying how good American Aquarium’s “Cherokee Purples” was. I tagged BJ Barnham, the songwriter. This dude got in the replies, which tagged BJ, and said: BJ’s voice wasn’t good. The songwriting was cliché. And all I (Brad) do is promote and overhype songs that aren’t good. I told him it was rude to reply to a post tagging the songwriter with such feedback, and I muted him. Today I blocked him. Here is the deal: I see the comments calling me sensitive and that I don’t want to hear other people’s opinions. Most of these came from people I’ve blocked for being assholes in the replies, songwriters or just constantly harassing me. I love difference in opinions / taste. @ChrisMargolin is one of my favorite dudes on X because he sends me so much stuff. I don’t like much of it because we have different tastes at his end of the spectrum vs. mine. But I do find gems I love, solely because of him (he introduced me to Medium Build). We're not name calling when we don't like the same thing because we're adults. While we’ve never met, I’d call him a friend (also check out his new EP). I can say the same for so many of you. This is how it should be. But for the haters, yeah, I block liberally because I can. This isn't a town hall. I don’t have to submit myself to these miserable takes and trolls every time I open this app. And if you just look at their feed, that’s what they are. It’s all negative replies to other people’s content. They aren’t adding any value. It gets obsessive, weird and I just feel sorry for them that this is how they spend their time. I really, really enjoy talking to my fellow music fans. I can talk to some of you all in a different way than I even can some of my best friends because we all care about music in a different way than most people. But I don’t want to hear from people like the dude who’s going to tell BJ Barnham, one of the most talented songwriters in the genre, that he can’t write or sing. It’s the internet, and yes you are entitled to your opinions. But I don’t have to listen to it when it’s laced with negativity. I am going to continue culling out people like this with zero apologies for it. If they want to circle up on each other’s post and talk about me, that’s fine. I will continue not thinking about them after I block them. I ask that you ignore them, too. I appreciate y'all defending me, but attention and arguing is what they want. Cut off the attention, and they'll move on. I’m not going to go through all of the negative comments one by one, but I will address one more. The engagement farming accusations are ignorant. Yes, I chose to talk about songwriters few people have heard of and have sub 5K listeners to go viral? That’s not a very good engagement farming tactic. If I wanted to engagement farm, I’d just be negative. Any negative content could get me 10X more engagement and I’d have 30K followers by now. I have worked in social media either directly or directly for my entire career. I built and ran a social media app for close to a decade. So yes, I have the basic understanding how how to get my message out. What that means is if I want to get people to listen to artists like Emily Jamerson, Jordan Lee King, Justin Clyde Williams, Jack Browning, Kelsey Waldon, Ritch Henderson, Hunter Flynn, Joe Stamm, and so on, then I need to occasionally create high engagement content, and content around the bigger artists like Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, etc. I’m going to keep doing my thing, because few social media-created experiences have been cooler than getting tagged in posts with pics of you all at the merch booth of an artist I introduced you to. I can’t sing for a damn but if this is my way of contributing to the scene, even if ever so small, I’ll take that role. So, I'm back. I wasn’t bullied off the platform. I took a long-planned break. I fished my tail off and have been hanging with my family, not checking X notifications. The haters confirmed taking a break was going to be a good move, but that was something I did for myself, not for or because of them. Social media isn't real life. Thank you to my friends who stood up for me while I was gone. And I appreciate y’all who found me and checked in with me. Alright, back to it. 🫶 - B

What is one of your favorite songs that happens to be a cover? One of mine is Justin Townes Earle covering Can’t Hardly Wait by The Replacements. Both are great but I gravitate toward that JTE cover more
