Some inital Gaussian Splatting tests using the new @TactycStudio Redshift plugin. I had to use some polycam scans from @stephanhelbing_ as I can't work out the correct orient for anything postshot. But, that aside they are looking very nice - very promising stuff

@NeilSzymanski Hey I will have a look at this soon! Denser clouds ( better scans) usually work better, and for faces i realized that you have to rather switch to an emissive material. But let me try it in the next days with the same sample!

@DavidLisser A big issue is the orientation and scale of the splats. Some tools output different orientations and scales which causes a lot of trouble with this method which means that it is a lot of trial and error. Polycam .ply worked the best for us for now

Pretty killer! I swapped out the VM nodes in octane for attributes so they hold well regardless of the splat with the same names etc - tweaked the OSL with an added threshold and a few more open params for fun since the RS sprite has a threshold, and then used a channel merge node for the RGBs instead of the add nodes just to tidy up the octane shader a bit. Really great stuff though - I appreciate the public release 🤘
