@joncoopertweets Excellent video on how Musk and Thiel bought this election. Includes how Project 2025 and Vance infiltrated and took over Trump campaign. They think they can control Trump. 👀

Wait, so you’re telling me that Trump and Vance repeatedly LIED to all of America during the campaign? I’m gobsmacked.

With the election so close and climate disasters rocking the globe, it’s time to hear real talk from the climate frontlines. Featuring survivors from the Asheville, NC catastrophe: Veteran climate champ @dannadogwood and youth activist Cora Martin. RSVP: bit.ly/crth2

We deserve what is coming at us. Humans are simply too self-absorbed to think about anything Beyond The Petri Dish. It’s a cognitive failure which will be our downfall. I’m at a dinner table and someone asks me something about the #ClimateCrisis. I’m not even two seconds into my reply and they lose interest, talking about how their food is too salty and changing the topic to the first random junk of information that popped into their brain, or that someone else threw at them from across the table. If our existential demise cannot even compete with beef carpaccio, football or whether the music is too soft or too loud, then we deserve to face the music. We deserve what is coming at us. 150% #psychology

So whaddya think? If you like it, run with it. If anyone else wants to start a London (or even Watford) chapter, hmu - as long as it's somewhere near a Tube station, I can hop the train to Euston and make it. Is this worth trying to get momentum on?

Hold little classes for folks in your area on how to do basic carpentry or gardening or cooking or engine upkeep or electrical wiring or simple electronics or canning food. All the little stuff we should probably know but which a lot of us were never taught.

My idea was to create a sort of decentralized network of groups in communities all over the world who could share knowledge and ideas and resources with one another on these topics. Your group could work in your town to essentially futureproof it as best you can.

Most of us have no plan and, let's be honest, no skills. We're so used to paying people to do things for us that we've forgotten how to do them ourselves. But in real emergencies, having self-reliance skills could be the difference between life and death.

@AngryBlackLady Still on my 8+ For battery management: - I keep location services off (unless I’m traveling) - I always set to Low Power Mode - I usually have Bluetooth off This frequently gets me 2 days btwn charges. That means I’m reducing my battery cycles by about 30% & reducing degradn

@Homeoffree61 I also remember from being in primary school in the late 60s and early 70s about the Presidential Fitness program, we used to sign up for and if we completed all of the requirements over summer we got a nifty badge. Where did it go?

On Ozempic. I saw the show on Oprah and the fight of obesity as a disease. My question is.. When I was in school in the 70’s rarely did you see overweight children and parents. As a society, our dietary consumption is up and level of physical activity is down, so this blew the theory. So, yes some people need it, but we’ve changed. Yes or no?

@hutchleah PLEASE do not regularly use lumify. Just use glasses or other eye protection, use artificial tears or a balanced eye rinse solution if you feel the need to cleanse your eyes. Lumify (and similar drops) have bad side effects when used long term.

This is because they embody the values of the psychotic, unstable and destructive economic system which has brought us modern industrial civilisation. @stop_fossil_fue Do you have any advice for someone who’s participated in non-sustainable consumption their whole life and wants to make a switch? There is so much I don’t know and I don’t where to start and what I need to learn.

I calculated, that if I want to sell eggs, I am inundated in bureaucracy, have to pay for government surveillance, pay lots of taxes and have to sell 11 eggs in order to be able to buy one egg from the shop. My solution was to go non-monetary. Grow what I need. Let me explain.

TWISTER is better than we remember. It got pannnnnned at the time as a dumb movie, but the script is witty and funny and the tornadoes actually still look pretty great.

Going shopping? Almost everything can be carried in a reusable bag. Apart from aquarium fish. They really need that plastic bag for the trip home.

If you want to do something good to yourself and the environment, start from eliminatic all plastics you can. Their production pollutes out drinking water. They make you ill and infertile in countless ways. They get ground into microplastics polluting the entire planet.

Here is a polynomial curve fit for the monthly surface temperature anomaly scatter plot from 1940 to 2023. Each dot shows one month's anomaly. Using this curve to forecast forward 36 months shows us breaking 1.5°C for good in 2025 and 1.6°C in 2026/27. Accelerated warming.

This is an important thread that gets to the crux of the environmental crisis. I would peel the onion back one further layer and say that the crisis is down to our misuse of language. Language is an incredibly important 'gift' but it comes with an important caveat... (1/6)

The climate crisis is the greatest issue of our time. It represents our failure as a species to properly manage the finite resources we have on this planet. To suggest life on Earth is invincible and our resources are infinite is nothing short of ludicrous.

It's vital that people understand this thread, because it contains the solution to the climate and ecological crisis. It is the culmination of decades of research and thinking, but I don't know if I will manage to convey the meaning of what has been overlooked. I may fail. 1/🧵
