We deserve what is coming at us. Humans are simply too self-absorbed to think about anything Beyond The Petri Dish. It’s a cognitive failure which will be our downfall. I’m at a dinner table and someone asks me something about the #ClimateCrisis. I’m not even two seconds into my reply and they lose interest, talking about how their food is too salty and changing the topic to the first random junk of information that popped into their brain, or that someone else threw at them from across the table. If our existential demise cannot even compete with beef carpaccio, football or whether the music is too soft or too loud, then we deserve to face the music. Hold little classes for folks in your area on how to do basic carpentry or gardening or cooking or engine upkeep or electrical wiring or simple electronics or canning food. All the little stuff we should probably know but which a lot of us were never taught.

My idea was to create a sort of decentralized network of groups in communities all over the world who could share knowledge and ideas and resources with one another on these topics. Your group could work in your town to essentially futureproof it as best you can.

Most of us have no plan and, let's be honest, no skills. We're so used to paying people to do things for us that we've forgotten how to do them ourselves. But in real emergencies, having self-reliance skills could be the difference between life and death.

As a society, our dietary consumption is up and level of physical activity is down, so this blew the theory. So, yes some people need it, but we’ve changed. Yes or no?

@hutchleah PLEASE do not regularly use lumify. Just use glasses or other eye protection, use artificial tears or a balanced eye rinse solution if you feel the need to cleanse your eyes. Lumify (and similar drops) have bad side effects when used long term.

I calculated, that if I want to sell eggs, I am inundated in bureaucracy, have to pay for government surveillance, pay lots of taxes and have to sell 11 eggs in order to be able to buy one egg from the shop. My solution was to go non-monetary. Grow what I need. Let me explain.

This is an important thread that gets to the crux of the environmental crisis. I would peel the onion back one further layer and say that the crisis is down to our misuse of language. Language is an incredibly important 'gift' but it comes with an important caveat... (1/6)

The climate crisis is the greatest issue of our time. It represents our failure as a species to properly manage the finite resources we have on this planet. To suggest life on Earth is invincible and our resources are infinite is nothing short of ludicrous.

It's vital that people understand this thread, because it contains the solution to the climate and ecological crisis. It is the culmination of decades of research and thinking, but I don't know if I will manage to convey the meaning of what has been overlooked. I may fail. 1/🧵
