My birthday was January 13th .. I asked this lady I was talking to for my birthday gift. I remember laughing when she told me, "My gift is the full package" I asked what she meant. Ghana doesn’t have a bus shortage problem. It has a governance problem. For decades, we’ve bought buses, STC, OSA, Metro Mass, Ayalolo. And for decades, many of them have ended up abandoned or barely functioning. Why? Because the basics are missing: proper maintenance plans, disciplined asset management, coherent route planning, and real accountability. We haven’t learned the core lesson. Instead, we keep procuring more buses, as if hardware can fix what is fundamentally a systems failure. It’s the hallmark of a procurement-driven approach to development. The solution is not more buses. It’s better governance. Start with Accra as a pilot. Establish a single accountable body, the Accra Transit Authority. Its job would be to plan routes, set service standards, and enforce performance-based contracts across operators. Trotro operators are not the enemy. They are already the backbone of the system. Bring them into a formal structure, set clear standards, and hold them accountable. Protect routes from arbitrary encroachment. Enforce maintenance schedules based on manufacturer guidelines for state-operated buses. Only once a functioning system exists does it make sense to invest in more buses, because then they will actually last. Until then, every new fleet we procure is just a slow donation to the scrapyard.

Twitter is annoying sometimes. Protecting C came naturally to us because of value system. We often talk about people recommending you for gigs or job, and mentioning your name in closed door meetings. People also recommend friendship when they find you trustworthy. People will not trust you because you ask them to. You have to make yourself trustworthy. Trust is earned. The thing about friendship is that, if you want friends, you have to first make yourself friendly. Are your friends secret safe with you? Can you give your life for them? Will you show up when they need you? Friendship is not confessional, it is sacrificial.

The day I said I have received more help from men than women, dem wan “pick me” to glory. But this is just the truth. If original jersey costs N5m each in Abazz's shop, Abazz should let Osimhen or Tife know, then include the cost of transportation plus any other expense, and let whoever is in charge of payment know.
