Not popular, but I’ll give Thad another year at Butler. I know they’ve looked awful & I go back and forth on this, but a new coach with the same NIL resources isn’t going to make a huge difference. Thad loves BU, won’t leave & has a pedigree. I’ll give him 1 more year. Roast me.

Soldier Field carries $500M+ in debt. It's paid by hotel taxes and when those fall short, it comes out of income taxes. JB’s family Hyatt got a $150M tax break. That's $150M less covering debt. You get the property AND the income tax bill. And the Bears leave for Indiana. 🙃

Perhaps. But they don’t. That’s the reality. I could say the same thing about you appearing to decide with corrupt politicians in Illinois. Pritzker just announced a crazy budget, which is going to increase taxes without anything to do with the bears. The fact is what they’re asking for is not anything different than every other stadium being built and they are funding the actual stadium themselves. The state of Illinois simply can’t afford a new stadium due to their current debt and how the politicians have been running the state forever. Every fan wants a great stadium. What they want to build will eventually bring a Super Bowl, which brings in more visitors which brings in more revenue. Along with many other events. And if the state cannot afford to help with infrastructure than the bears should go directly across the border where a state can’t afford to help. Quite frankly, I wish they could stay in Chicago, but that is not realistic at this point.

And this is without the Bears. I’m born and raised in IL. Lived in the city for 6 years. The Bears shouldn’t have to move from Chicago, let alone IL. I get that. But NWI is basically a suburb of Chicago. The rest of Indiana doesn’t like NWI because it is mostly former IL residents at one point or another. Here we go again, the Bears are just asking for money to be used on infrastructure (roadways, sewers, metra line) and a tax certainty. The team has said countless times that they would pay for the stadium themselves. Before anyone mentions anything about Indiana giving the Bears public money for the stadium, that was what Indiana offered. The Bears would have been dumb to say not to that offer, unless Illinois gives one last push.

Yes, this is common. But I agree because Illinois has completely messed up every taxpayer in the state with how bad the debt is. But at the same time there shouldn’t be anyone complaining that they move if it’s not financially feasible for the state. It’s not a a bad deal in comparative analysis. For the taxpayer it’s bad because of Illinois politics
