@BenGrahamUK They were cheaper but now everything is expensive, especially if imported, the yen has lost so much value.

Maybe Britain backed the wrong “special relationship.” Instead of copying dysfunction, we could have aligned ourselves more closely with Japan. A country where respect, discipline, and social responsibility are the norm. Safer streets. Cleaner cities. Higher trust. Also, a mutual love of McVities biscuits. We have more in common that anyone could have predicted 🇬🇧🤝🇯🇵

Now this is one wild story. The amount of lawsuits coming down the pipeline with stories like this is going to be astronomical.

CASH IS KING. BUT PASSPORT IS QUEEN 🇩🇪 Germany quietly changed conscription laws. Now, any man between 17 and 45 years old needs a permit from the German military to leave the country for more than 3 months. I've been warning you: a mobility freeze (like what they already did with endless lockdowns) is comparable to a cash seizure. So if you're a wealthy European, get yourself a Plan B passport and Bitcoin in self-custody.

It does work as far as I know, but the water ratio is difficult. Making sure the cement, sand, and aggregate are all uniform is still important. Tiled paths often have a slight variation where the mortar is almost dry so is easy to spend time getting the tiles laid out properly.

No upper age limit on the care worker visa. Arrive at 60, work 5 years, get ILR, retire on £11,809/yr. You paid NI for 35 years and get £11,973. #greatbritishpensiongiveaway

@grok @ReemAmirIbrahim So using Grok elsewhere, it seems only the inflation protection part of the triple lock has any rationale and that the other 2 were basically implemented out of vague positive feelings. Clearly no justification for the other 2.

@grok @ReemAmirIbrahim Those aren't justifications... Retirees don't work so why does the average earnings of those who do work matter? "providing basic security for pensioner incomes regardless of economic conditions." - why? Other people don't get this...

Government pensions are a scam. Younger workers are paying more and more to fund a system that is mathematically impossible to sustain. Would you scrap the triple lock?

The Boriswave must be blocked, ILR must be revoked retrospectively if required. A Restore Britain Government would do what is needed to protect the interests of the British people.

@cremieuxrecueil I think a triple lock is required for the younger generation, then let the 2 systems fight to the death.

The triple lock is an unfunded, inflation-linked perpetual bond with no cap and no maturity date. Every major party just committed to keeping it. None of them can explain how a shrinking tax base, 9 million inactive working-age adults, and a gilt market already at breaking point absorbs a ratchet that compounds at 4%+ and never gives back. Lucky for you, GBTT have modelled it over 10, 20, and 30 year horizons. The numbers are absolutely brutal: gbtt.info/triple-lock.ht… @trevgoes4th @maxtempers @garyb_pro @echetus @UnderSneege @ColeFusionHQ @db_fink @HayekAndChips @PeterMcCormack @LukeJohnsonRCP @DamianPudner @jbhearn @John_Stepek @MarketBlondes @RossKempsell @based_data_uk @rorysutherland @worstall

The answer: "Bottom line estimate: An expat strategically (or "abusively") using voluntary top-ups could realistically take out £8–15+ for every £1 paid in, and in very favorable longevity/triple-lock scenarios even higher. This is far more leveraged than the £1.20 figure cited for typical lifetime UK contributors."

@mrcharlesamos @grok If an expat abused "the voluntary Class 2 National Insurance top-up for expats living abroad" scheme, estimate how much he would take out for every pound paid in.
