We are in the midst of a fluoride war. Regardless of where you stand on the issue, people want alternatives that work.
NOBS has officially entered the battlefield with a peer-reviewed article.
Coincidentally, the best part of this study is that NOBS was at parity with the fluoride toothpaste group (rhymes with send-some-dimes).
For those that don’t know, I’m the dentist behind @BetterBiom and NOBS toothpaste.
We have ambitious goals to be the most studied toothpaste for a few reasons:
1) I have a hurdle to overcome being an alligator (this doesn’t inspire trust).
2) Too many brands rely on studies that surround the ingredient rather than the specific formula. I want the world to know how NOBS performs, not ride the coattails of existing research about hydroxyapatite.
3) Show people that this stuff works beyond testimonials.
So what did the study show?
Researchers threw NOBS into one of the toughest “cavity simulators”, an artificial mouth loaded with sugar and cavity-causing bacteria. They compared it with a standard fluoride paste, a placebo tablet and with no brushing at all.
Results:
- Half the damage avoided. After a week of nonstop acid attacks (every time we eat), teeth brushed with the tablet lost about 14 % of their minerals, while unbrushed teeth lost 30 %. That’s roughly 50 % less enamel erosion.
- Neck-and-neck with fluoride. The fluoride paste finished at 14 % mineral loss; statistically indistinguishable from the tablet. In other words: same protection, zero fluoride.
- A placebo version only cut damage to 23 %. Adding nHA and Xylitol nearly doubled the protection.
-Big-picture scorecard:
They calculated a “demineralization-inhibition” score
NOBS tablet ≈ 52 % protection
Fluoride paste ≈ 51 % protection
Placebo tablet ≈ 22 % protection
Next time someone tells you that you need 10% hydroxyapatite to be effective you can tell them to kick rocks and read a book (studies don’t really support this anyway)
We are already planning our next study, and it’s going to be even higher stakes.
Thank you all for joining me on this ride, and for being part of the revolution in changing oral care.

WHAT DOES THIS PAPER ON SUN & CANCER SHOW?
Oh nothing much except....
1. "regular sunlight/vitamin D "intake" inhibits growth of breast and colon cancer cells and is associated with substantial decreases in death rates from these cancers"
2. "sunlight has a paradoxical relationship with melanoma, in that severe sunburning initiates melanoma whereas long-term regular sun exposure inhibits melanoma"
3. "metabolites of vitamin D have induced leukemia and lymphoma cells to differentiate...and produced complete and partial clinical responses in lymphoma patients having high vitamin D metabolite receptor levels in tumor tissue"
4. "frequent regular sun exposure acts to cause cancers that have a 0.3% death rate with 2,000 U.S. fatalities per year and acts to prevent cancers that have death rates from 20-65% with 138,000 U.S. fatalities per year"
5. "the 17% increase in breast cancer incidence during the 1991-1992 year may be the result of the past decade of pervasive anti-sun advisories from respected authorities, coinciding with effective sunscreen availability"
6. "trends in the epidemiological literature suggest that approximately 30,000 U.S. cancer deaths yearly would be averted by the widespread public adoption of regular, moderate sunning"
And more but I'll stop now......

ATTENTION PARENTS: BLUE LIGHT AT NIGHT IS CHILD ABUSE YOU MONSTERS.....
Artificial light at night is worse for children than it is for adults.
Researchers have found twice the melatonin suppression in children compared to adults exposed to the same lighting due to age-related losses in crystalline lens transmittance and pupillary miosis.
"In children, blue-enriched LED lighting has a greater impact on melatonin suppression and it inhibits the increase in sleepiness during night. Light with a low color temperature is recommended at night, particularly for children's sleep and circadian rhythm."
So if you have kids, dont be monsters and expose them to bad light at night. You are accelerating disease progression in your child.
Make them wear blue blockers, turn their iphone screens red and use special night light bulbs, all of which you can find below.

You’re not getting old, you just have a smartphone face. Sagging jowls, droopy cheeks, deep smile lines. It’s not your age, it’s your posture. When your head is tilted forward all the time (like when scrolling your phone), it can slow down lymphatic drainage in your face and neck. The lymphatic system is like your body’s natural detox network: clear fluid, waste, and toxins. Stand straight and proud. Love you xo

If you don't want breast cancer you have to limit your light at night but if you have breast cancer and don't want it to spread you DEFINITELY have to limit your light at night.
At ENDO 2019, the Endocrine Society's annual meeting in New Orleans, scientists made a presentation that stated....
"Our research identified the importance of an intact nocturnal circadian melatonin anti-cancer signal in suppressing bone-metastatic breast tumor growth,".
Anyone with breast cancer needs to go dark at night.
Wear blue blockers and use the special night light bulbs below if you must, but dont be a fool and use regular artificial light at night.

2 YEAR STUDY OF 91,000 PEOPLE SHOWS BAD LIGHT = BAD MENTAL HEALTH!
"Circadian disruption is reliably associated with various adverse mental health and wellbeing outcomes, including major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder......These associations were independent of demographic, lifestyle, education, and overall activity confounders."
If you have bad mental health like bipolar disorders or depression, you must fix the kind of light and the timing of light you allow into your life.
You need bright days and dark nights not dark days and bright nights.
You can do this for free by going outside a lot more during the day, especially in the morning, and turning off the lights or avoiding screens at night.
If you cant get outside in the day you can get the special daylight I suggest below. Likewise if you cant turn the lights off at night you can get blue light blocking glasses, special nightlight bulbs and learn how to turn your phone screens red...all found in the reply below.

This account was all a giant ruse to get @hubermanlab to say “gator dentist” to his audience.
In all seriousness, now that I’ve finished the latest oral health episode with @doctorstaci I can say with full confidence:
His solo episode and this guest episode together are about as comprehensive as it gets. It would take you weeks and months of reading to gain an understanding that is laid out here, both neatly and easy to digest.
Highly recommend everyone feeling lost on the subject to check them out.

EAT MORE MUSHROOMS.
Heavy Metals That Some Mushrooms Can Bind To: Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Arsenic, Cesium, Strontium.
Toxins That Certain Mushrooms May Help Remove or Neutralize: Mycotoxins, pesticides & herbicides, endotoxins, free radicals
How This Works
- Polysaccharides like beta-glucans: Bind toxins and eliminate them through stool
- Melanin content like chaga & reishi: May counteract radiation exposure and detoxify heavy metals
- Shiitake & Oyster mushrooms studied for their fibre: Act as chelators, preventing metal absorption in the gut.

Formula has 25-50x iron content of breastmilk.
I am convinced that this is a major driver of inflammation, illness, and autoimmunity in children today. It's not perfect, but LACTOFERRIN based formula clinically proven to reduce this issue.
"Significant increase in doctor visits due to illness in iron fortified formula group."

🌼🙂🍊 Peat Pillman@PeatPill
Many infant formulas are fortified with iron at 8–14 mg/L whereas breast milk contains about 0.3 mg/L.

Time spent outdoors = healthier children.
"Time spent in natural outdoor spaces has positive impacts on many areas involved in the development of speech, language and communication skills. Attention and listening, play, lexical diversity and even the parent child interaction itself are reported to be enhanced in outdoor contexts, all of which contribute significantly to children’s communicative capabilities.
It appears that the immersive environment offered by natural outdoor spaces invites the exploration, creativity and physical challenge that supports the development of these fundamentally important aspects of children’s health."
