Steven Jones, 55, was holding a large knife. Three officers spent over five minutes attempting to de-escalate as he walked into the street. Officer Joseph Magnano, the fourth officer on scene, approached with his gun drawn, warned Jones he would be shot, and fired nine times when Jones continued advancing with the knife. On March 27, 2026, Mayor Arunan Arulampalam terminated Magnano effective immediately, stating the officer’s actions were “deeply concerning” and did not meet professional standards. The Office of the Inspector General’s investigation remains ongoing. The Hartford police union has criticized the firing.

Miami Police shoot, wound man across from Ultra Music Festival… The incident occurred Saturday morning around 7AM outside the YVE Hotel on Biscayne Blvd. & NE 2nd St. after officers responded to a report of a man in his 20s acting erratically. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, used a Taser and pepper spray, which were apparently not effective — and an officer fired at the man. Miami Police Chief Manny Morales said he "appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries," and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment along with one officer injured during the incident.

Today is Palm Sunday. My dad succumbed to stage 4 pancreatic cancer today at 4:16am. Doctors gave us 1-3 weeks to live. He made it to two weeks. He was a God fearing man, loved his family especially his grand daughter dearly, veteran, a patriot, and just a wonderful dad! I will see him again! God has promised us this! ALWAYS let your family members know you LOVE them. Every day is a day the Lord has made! We are to rejoice and be glad in it! He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
