@antooconnell @hollywood_niall This. The sandwich bar where a friend works goes through over 100 cans a day, and the owner has staff member take them to the Spar around the corner for the €15. It takes him an hour which, funnily enough, is the same as what he pays him. An utter waste of time.

@hollywood_niall No you’re right he is doing nothing wrong. It’s the system that’s the issue. If he’s a business owner then his customers should be taking the bottles or cans to the poxy DRS machine or he doesn’t charge them and he brings them

I absolutely hate and despise the deposit return scheme and these type of people make it significantly worse. The sooner this DRS thing ends

This is why I spend all my time in bars, looking for someone who is reading my book so I can start reading it to them. And while there, of course, I might enjoy a refreshing adult beverage, because what else am I going to do?

Just remember that when you suggest an author do that, it's not a matter of spending a few hours making your own cover, it's hundreds or thousands of hours mastering (or journeyman-ing) graphic design, THEN a few hours to make the cover. Hours we're not writing.

This note (from my narrator) reminds me of a lot of things about self publishing. I could probably, with enough training, narrate my own audiobooks passably. Just like I could learn to make decent covers, run ad campaigns myself, and proofread. 🧵

I got incredibly lucky finding my line editor and my audio narrator. Laura Donovan works so well for me, and I got her off a reddit ad (seriously). And @TheWayneFarrell is fantastic, even though I didn't want a non-American accent originally. His audition won me over.

The problem for me when narrating a series is the anxious thoughts that one of my favourite characters might not make it to the next book! (I will disown you! I swear!) 🛸◼️
