@jaraparilla The referee had his flag up so this wouldn't change anything. You should be asking why the flag was up if this was so close. The answer is people make mistakes and that influences matches. You can rely more on a computer.

Maybe the solution to VAR is to have a more human "margin of error"? So if a player's toe is 1mm offside, that's not enough to overturn the referee's decision (because no referee could be expected to detect that). VAR should only overturn decision that are CLEARLY wrong.

Tipping culture is very easy. If you go into a place that has a hostess, you sit down at a table and get waited on…you tip 20% if the service was acceptable. Less if the waiter sucks. If you go into a bar you tip your bartender generally a dollar a drink. Every other instance of tipping like at Starbucks or chicken joints like Foosackleys you press “no tip” with a smile on your face.

Soccer will never be popular in America. What we’re seeing with the World Cup is a fad. Within months we will be addicted to the NFL again. Here’s why: - Soccer isn’t violent enough. - There’s way too much whining which goes against the American DNA. - The refs and rules seem incredibly arbitrary. - It’s in American to have a sports game end in a draw. It’s just wrong. - Hard to monetize. TV ads are nonexistent. I actually like this element but our American economy does not. - Did I mention there’s too much whining and faked injuries? Basically, what I’m saying is that soccer is a pretty wimpy sport. You can hate me for saying this but you know it’s the truth. I will continue enjoying the World Cup but we all know what happens next. Back to normal life!
