@Timinwinchester

I’ve moved to BlueSky! Find me there under the same name. It’s nicer.

@EPHoughton It's mad, isn't it. Every time I get resigned to Everton's fate, they go and do something like this.

@Xelabus I’ve sent a couple of emails (two weeks ago and again last week) to you about a dangerous close pass from one of your drivers. But so far I’ve had no acknowledgment or any kind of response. What’s the best way to draw this to your attention, please?

I'm surprised (but I shouldn't be) at the blatant falsehoods and malicious claims people pull out of their imaginations to defame a school. Probably because they can't land a shot on it in any other way. 1. Pupils eligible for free school meals at any time during the past 6 years: 31.1% (national rate: 27.1%) 2. Pupils with an SEN Education, Health and Care Plan: 2.4% (National rate: 2.4%) 3. The school is not over subscribed 4. Exclusions are very infrequent. Apart from that, this delirious rant against a head teacher and a school that transforms the life chances for thousands of children is spot on. What possesses some people?

@TEP_Pippa Good point! It’s to be set aside for a bit. Newborns get this one. (Or a version of).

It’s been a while, but I haven’t forgotten how to crochet. Baby blanket for my great-niece.

Oh, the predictable joy of getting back to work after some annual leave. Locked out of my Office account. Hmm, what to do now…?

Is there anyone out there in #edutwitter or #twittereps who has read Nuthall’s Hidden Lives of Learners and can help me understand a confusion I have? I can’t equate his “need to encounter information at least 3 times” with his A + A + A + A formula (i.e., 4 times). Thanks.

@MathsWithMsB @tombennett71 Thanks. With a partial r squared of 0.019 correlating evaluations with effectiveness, I agree with your comment elsewhere that the main takeaway from this is "do evaluations on a sunny day"!

More evidence to debunk the claim that amateur observers are the best judge of expert professionals. Student voice matters, and can help us pick up things we miss, but that doesn't mean it's always correct, or privileged, or incontestable.
Steve Stewart-Williams@SteveStuWill

“Tough math teachers get lower ratings from students, because students like them less. However, students get better grades with the tough teachers than with laxer teachers. Reason #167 why student evaluations of teaching aren’t particularly useful.” stevestewartwilliams.com/p/implicit-bia…
