@HistoryBoomer Love that Crazy Eddie is weighing in on transportation policy planning. Like buddy, I think maybe your ideas aren’t really that great or necessarily in the public interest.

@kgelner @smod4real What’s the “this” you’re saying will happen this week? Regime change? lol. No. I’d love to be wrong, but that isn’t happening at all.

I will gladly take the L and publicly admit being wrong if that’s what it takes to see this war end. I would LOVE IT if the Iranian regime capitulated tomorrow, agreed to turn over control to secular leaders, and pledged new elections in 3 months. That’s not going to happen tho.
Ice@WeBecomeTheIce

@baltic_dan I've been searching for a single panican who will agree to publicly admitting they were wrong once this all blows over. Funnily, none will. Almost as if they know what's coming.

When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So there I am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in but Chapell Roan! I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at her as she read a magazine and waited, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Chappell, but she just wouldn't stop. Pretty soon she gets up and walks over. She started running her hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Chappell put down her magazine, picked up my niece and smacked the shit out of her. Smacked her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill chick, really nice about it. Anybody else met her and have any stories to share?

Footballer Jorginho Frello calls out Chappell Roan after her security confronted his young daughter: “No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.”

Traffic checkpoints are meant to check for licenses and impaired driving 🚦. But situations like this often spark debates about rights, ID, and police authority ⚖️. Moments like these show why it’s so important to actually understand the rules of the system you’re operating in 📚. Knowing what the law says, how enforcement works, and how these encounters play out can make a huge difference when you’re on the road 🛣️. Education changes how you move ✊.

1) This is a good community note and, while it technically is not in the spirit of community notes, I'm going to allow it 2) It's important to note that you cannot shame the liberal media monolith into acting like decent humans. They do not feel bad when they do evil things.

@RockOperaKMS @washghost1 Two different issues. And the latter is largely unrelated to whether your neighbor builds a bigger, more valuable house.

@RockOperaKMS @washghost1 I’m happy to concede your point about property tax assessments, though the mill rate x assessment IS a fixed percentage, with the result being that when the assessment goes up, your bill goes up, because the thing you own is more valuable. Property tax rates can be raised too.

They’re doing this where I live too. I live in an old neighborhood built in the early 80’s. We had a house that was for sale burn down and the built a house just like this in its place. They sold it for $450,000. Most houses in the neighborhood go for between 200 and 300k

@RockOperaKMS @washghost1 It’s a function of the home value, and you’re trying to change the subject because you know I’m right about gentrification.

@TimmyTimTom5 @washghost1 But the way you talk about taxes makes me think you don’t. For instance you saying “go from 5% to 7%”…what does that even mean? 7% of what? Property tax bills in 99.9% of America are a function of assessment and mill rate, not a fixed percentage like a state income tax.

@RockOperaKMS @washghost1 I know how taxes work dipshit. If property taxes go from 5% to 7%, it’s not bc of gentrification. If your tax bill goes up bc your house is more valuable, congrats. It is nonsensical to argue that when your neighborhood gets nicer, you are somehow suffering financially.

@TimmyTimTom5 @washghost1 Costs drive the size of the pie, individual property values decide how it’s sliced. Wealthier homeowners may and often do lobby and vote for increased services, but the market value of your home by itself did not increase the size of the pie (your municipality budget expenses).

@washghost1 So now rural ppl are against gentrification too? This is incredibly stupid. Property taxes go up because the value of the thing you own is going up. That’s good. Stop pretending good is bad.

No, cover-up and disinterest are not the same thing. I’m not suggesting they actively covered something up. I am suggesting they didn’t care. They weren’t interested in hearing from the many many San Joaquin Valley farmers who would’ve had not so glowing opinions of Chavez. And I do think it’s legitimate to ask if Chavez’s opposition to illegal immigration is part of why it’s sudden suddenly does now.

Publications of every ideological bent have always been free to investigate Cesar Chavez. It was the NY Times that spent 5 years digging up the story that would destroy the legacy of a liberal icon. The journalists who broke the story are the envy of their colleagues, who have been effusively praising them on social media. None of this is surprising to anyone who follows the work of publications like the Times that have been doing this sort of work, exposing bad actors of every political stripe, for more than a century.
Megan Basham@megbasham

I have no problem believing that Cesar Chavez was a sexual abuser. I have a very hard time believing that the legacy media just discovered this.
