@JeffATrennepohl Do a few weeks of manual labor. That will put some calluses on those fingers. 🤦‍♂️

@EthanWi25035486 @DColdestt I know, but they actually have a long history of drafting players at the same position right after signing a veteran at that position. They did it last year. Signed 2 FA LB’s & still drafted 2 LB’s.

Signing Dugger likely takes the #Bengals out of taking safety at #10. You're probably starting to zero in on CB/LB here if I had to guess.

@JoeGoodberry @CincyPlzWin And it shouldn’t. Especially when the FA is 30 years old playing on a 1 year deal. Not to mention the fact that he plays a completely different role than Downs would be asked to play.

I remember in 2012 when the Bengals signed Terence Newman on April 11th and I knew that meant they weren't going to draft a CB anymore. Then they drafted Dre Kirkpatrick in the 1st round. They also signed Guard Jacob Bell on April 7th and I figured that meant they weren't drafting a guard. Then they drafted Kevin Zeitler in the 1st round. But, they also signed TE Donald Lee on April 13th and then drafted Orsen Charles in the 4th round. All three of those happened in 2012. But that has to be the only year, right? Oh, in 2013 they signed TE Alex Smith on April 16th. They then drafted Tyler Eifert in the 1st round. They also brought back RB Bernard Scott on April 12th and then drafted Giovani Bernard in the 2nd round. Oh oh they also signed legendary Edge/OLB James Harrison on April 18th. Surely they wouldn't... Wait... they drafted DE Margus Hunt and OLB Sean Porter right after that. On April 12th they also signed G Mike Pollak. They then drafted 3 offensive linemen that year. The next year, 2014, the Bengals signed 3 veterans right before the draft. The DE was Sam Montgomery and they drafted Will Clarke in the 3rd round. In 2017, the Bengals traded for veteran DE Chris Smith from the Jags on April 11th. This means they won't be drafting... Oh welcome to the team Carl Lawson and Jordan Willis! In 2022, they signed CB/S hybrid guy Tre Flowers on April 7th. Their first round pick? You guessed it, Dax Hill. In 2023, the Bengals signed DE Tarrell Basham on April 5th. The shock on my face when they drafted Myles Murphy in the 1st round!? And last year, on April 9th, the Bengals signed LB Joe Giles-Harris. They would then draft two linebackers in Demetrius Knight and Barrett Carter. So, yeah. Their April signings have had no impact on them eliminating positions from their draft boards.

People saying FA signings arent going to effect who the Benglas draft clearly are ignoring the Bengals history

@David_Potteiger Styles because he has a lot of pass rushing upside. He had 6 sacks in 2024 despite that being his first season at LB & he wasn’t asked to blitz very often.

@TruthPimp @FBGreatMoments Ed Reed was an outstanding player & definitely in the argument for greatest Safety ever, but that’s not the question. The question was to pair the 2 hardest hitters not the 2 best Safeties & Reed is at the bottom of this list as far as hard hitting goes.

@FBGreatMoments Ed Reed and the other doesn't matter. Fans of teams and/or players have no idea why he is the GOAT. TB and Manning have explained why. So, did Bill Belichick. I do not like the Ravens. Respect from the opposition is the highest praise.

@Lewisgem1150 @TheSisko89 That’s what I heard too, but when a good opportunity presents itself you gotta pounce. Duggar didn’t have the kind of market he wanted so he chose to go to a team where he will play a significant role that also has an elite Offense & the best QB. Great situation for him.

@JoeGoodberry And I always loved the way Belichick handled his star CB’s. Let them play straight up against the other teams #2 WR & bracket or double the other teams #1 with the other CB. Gilmore won DPOY because he completely shut down everyone’s #2.

@NotZacTaylor Probably nothing. The last 3 signings are guys who didn’t have the kind of market they were looking for so the Bengals swooped them up for cheap.

@JoeGoodberry Breakout age is very important. Like you said, McCoy was great at 19. Delane didn’t become great until he was 22 & more physically mature. I don’t think people take that into consideration nearly enough.

I do. Anytime you get young production from a top end athlete, those are the guys you want to target. Sure, the injury makes things murkier and he's got some penalty issues, but McCoy was absolutely fantastic on tape at 19 years old.

@JoeGoodberry Do you think Jermod McCoy is one of the blue chippers?

@GregBorchers @JoeGoodberry @BengalsTalk Well it was talked about in depth by several beat reporters & people I know in Columbus. Regardless, he cut down on his penalties significantly from the year before.

@vancemeek I agree. From a grade perspective I have him behind Maye, Daniels, & Williams, but ahead of Penix, Nix, & Ward.

@TimothySouth6 @BengalsTalk Penalty data for other CBs in this class. If Ponds is gonna have a hard time dealing with it, so will others.
